Plus it can't be easy breast feeding a bird of prey, thats gotta hurt..whats up with Paul's icon, I don't see it, just a symbol where the pic should be.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Scratch 0 #1603 November 4, 2002 Quote do they wake you up in the middle of the night Laugh away. I was having a Sunday afternoon snooze and my phone rang. "Andre one of your birds is running around on the ground" 50 km round trip to put the ungrateful little bugger back. The shit bit me too. Hee hee, actually it is fun. I am quite attached to the vicious bastards.
meatmissile 0 #1604 November 4, 2002 Quote "Scratch's flying school - We teach the birds how to fly!" I've seen Scratch fly. Those Kestrels have problems you and I can only begin to understand ! -- ZZZzzzz....
nacmacfeegle 0 #1605 November 4, 2002 I know whats wrong with them, they are not geting enough air time to fully develop their skills. Why don't you take them to altitude and see how they fare. Yo will either teach them to fly, or they won't bother you again...Or train them to fly with you in freefall, have you guys seen "willing to fly"? There is a cool sequence with a trained hawk, that swoops its 'master' in freefall, its impressive stuff..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. ernokaikkonen 0 #1607 November 4, 2002 Ok, since I promised details... First, when I got there, I pressed the buzzer on the intercom to get in. A voice answers: -"Yes?"(yes, in English). I figured it was Paul speaking english since I knew that he was expecting some guests from England too. -"Avaa ovi, Erno täällä." -"What?" -"Umm.. Open up!" -"Oh, ok." I get in and find one of the English guests housesitting while Paul is out getting more beer. I got to speak more English last week than the whole of last year combined I think! Good thing too; while you guys have kept my written English in good shape, my spoken English was getting a bit rusty. After the party got properly started, we were pretty much doing the usual stuff: Drinking great amounts of beer and punch, discussing worthy topics, sampling "Original Dave's extreme killer sauce"(or something like that, very hot stuff), watching skydiving videos. Then I passed out. Then I was dragged up and into a restaurant, where more drinks were consumed, and some dancing was done. I crashed at Paul's place. The next morning I had the Mother of all hangovers. One the 'Please, kill me now'-types. In the evening we went flying a kite.

I went to Teatteri to eat then we went Clubing. Lot's of VERY good looking Finnish women. I think they will be back... with friends. Apparantly there friends are BIGGER drinkers. Scratch 0 #1609 November 4, 2002 Quote There is a cool sequence with a trained hawk Perigrin falcon to be precise Yes I have seen it. Pretty amazing footage. Particularly when you see the bird go 'big' to slow downThe professor who came to ring the kestrels is a specialist on the Perigrin. He told me that on one occasion while belaying down to a nest one the parents hit him so hard it knocked him out. When he came to he had a bleeding nose and burst blood vessels in his eyes and that is while wearing a Protek.I must do a search but I think they go well over 300kph in a dive. dp1l 0 #1619 November 4, 2002 Good morning How are you all this morning? Unproductive and slightly boring weekend, but I feel revitalised for the week! Does anyone know if the search facility is working properly? I am trying to find that picture of the fat elvis impersonator (a guy at work was doing an elvis song at a karaoke bar, and I want to send it to him), and I can't find it! Nice sunny, not too cold day in London - took the train / bus in to work this morning, so I avoided the stress of the tube! Nice start to a very busy week! ernokaikkonen 0 #1621 November 4, 2002 >Does anyone know if the search facility is working properly? I don't think it does. There have been complaints about it at "Error and bug reports". I know I've tried to find threads that I know were there a couple of weeks ago, and the search page wont find them. The same threads can be found by manually browsing the forums.
