SMELLY PEOPLE

your probably sitting next to people who r on foodstamps.

You're right. Anyone who is on food stamps, welfare or other public assistance must be a worthless piece of smelly shit and should therefore be completely ostracized... nah, better yet, let's just take them all out and shoot them.

Grrr.... If you couldn't tell, I've been there. It pissed me off to see the looks I'd get in the grocery store, and it pisses me off to hear/read things like you just posted. Not every person on food stamps is a worthless piece of shit - just like not every skydiver is someone I want to hang around...

Thats not how i read his post. He seemed to be making a point about not being allowed to buy hygiene products with food stamps, and that he thought that was strange. I don't know if that is the case, though. As far as calling them pieces of shit and wanting the ostracized, i didn't get that impression at all.

Yup, and since being on food stamps is a sensitive subject for me I took it totally the wrong way and overreacted. He set me straight in pm's. :)

Try teaching 30 high school freshmen late in the day (read:after they have had gym class) in a small room.

Heard that.

Grew up in Florida. We had kids who played basketball outdoors on an asphalt surface in 90deg heat. No gym clothes, they would roll up their pants legs and sleeves, play for an hour, no shower, go to their next class.

No air conditioning, just fans. Sometimes the smell could peel paint.

Oh geez, people...I didn't want this thread to turn in a serious direction:P.

I'm glad everything was straightened out.;)

Okay...gotta run...I'm writing a story for our local magazinen about some foster kids/homeless kids I've interviewed, since we all know Florida has a big problem with our DCF system (Rilya Wilson case).

You would not BELIEVE how incredible these kids are. I'm so stoked to be a part of this series:)
Fallingwoman...TOO FUNNY! My high school was on a lake and we'd wakeboard on our lunch break, so we'd usually come back to class soaking wet and smelling like lake water:P

Carrie,

I know you meant this in humor.

Sometimes I think we all forget that our humor is at the expense of someone else. I am DEFINITELY guilty of that and I am trying to improve in that area. At least you didn't mention the guys name.

Also, someone I think made the assumption the guy was poor. B.O. is not an issue of poverty. Trust me, I have met many wealthy people who had total B.O.

While reading this thread, an image came into my head of Mother Theresa picking up the dieing in Calcutta. I bet those people didn't smell too good, but she didn't care. She just picked them up. Something to think about.

Once again, I know Carrie did not mean anything bad with this thread.

Blue skies.:)

Of course not!

Like you, I try my best not to judge others. However, I, too, am guilty of it once in a while.

The post was meant in humor and for the record, I NEVER implied anything about anyone being poor. Hell, I'm a college student!:P

It was meant to be funny...everyone smells sometimes...ha ha ha...seriously, folks...I think some people were reading WAY too much into it.

Also, I know I'm always pleading to people not to judge each other. I think some people on the forumns, at the DZ and in life in general do this way too often. I feel like, I know I feel very strongly about my opinions and beliefs and just like I feel strongly about those, I realize others feel strongly about their own beliefs, so who am I to judge them for it? I also believe that variety is the spice of life. To each their own. No-one is perfect and we are all going to judge/be judged at different times in our lives and it's up to us to try to control our own judging and not give a shit about others judging us.

At least, that's how I feel on the matter....now that I'm done with my soliloqy...I think you stink, Muenkel for making me get all serious;):P

It's the curse of being a hot chic. You're going to attract them all....even the smelly ones. It's a cross you will have to bear.:D

Well...we're getting her side of the story...there is probably a group of well-muscled studly maintenance guys in the library on their break going "no, don't look up, maybe she won't see us". ;)
