jessefs 0 #1 November 5, 2002 I was wondering if anyone had experience or know anyone that has with the Depo shot that lasts 3 months. A friend of mine received it and within the first week she started to bleed everyday as well as gain a lot of weight (water retention) Her doctor told her that some people do not react well to the drug, but bleeding every day?? This has been going on for 10 weeks now and she is not going to get another shot (obviously)....I was just wondering if anyone else had some insight. Vallerina 2 #2 November 5, 2002 The people that I know who were on the shot bled for awhile (11 weeks was the longest I've heard) after first getting it, but their periods completely stopped after getting the shot for a second or third time. I guess it's rather common. I have heard of people gaining much more weight on the shot than on any other type of birth control, but I haven't seen anyone gain more than 10 pounds within a year while on it. TequilaGirl 0 #4 November 5, 2002 I have been on the depo shot for 3 years and I love it.......The first 3 month cycle was rough but the payoff is unbelievable - she should be fine after her second shot - if she is still having trouble after her second shot - she should go back to the doctor....... Another girl that was on it went off for a while and they tell you it can take up to 18 months to get pregnant - she was pregnant in 2 months. However, for our uneducated brethren, I was trying to shield them. Guys should get into women-topics slowly. Maybe watch the Lifetime channel an hour a week. It screwed me up and I may have had a break maybe 2 weeks out of 3 months and I only took it once.....tell her to go another route...go to the pill or something ELSE...!!!!! Not wild in the good way either, we're talking going from ok to raging hormone bitch in under 5 seconds. Not for anything that called for it, either.
