flyingcanuck 0 #1 October 31, 2002 Unfortunately, work is sending me to Cancun for a month. In November. Life is rough and I was thinking skydiving would help pass all the free time I spend sober. Anyone out there on this whacky thing know anything about the d/z's in Mx?

Enrique 0 #4 October 31, 2002 Yes. The DZ is actually in Playa del Carmen and one of the owner's name is Jerry (Mexican but fluent in English). He's a great flier (approx. 5,000 + jumps). I think they fly a C-182 (which sucks) but the view must be breathtaking. Have fun.
jfields 0 #5 October 31, 2002 How much of a problem does the language barrier present there for us gringos with minimal spanish skills?

jfields 0 #7 October 31, 2002 Yeah. The DZO will personally lead me around and be my personal translator for the day. And all I have to do is give him quarters for tiny boxes of Chiclets every now and then. Dumbass. I saw that, but wanted to know about the DZ as a whole. Whatever. It isn't like I'm worried about my Spanish skills: Donde esta el banyo. Me gusta su madre. Or, in your case: Me gusta su ovejas.
freeflir29 0 #8 October 31, 2002 Quote The DZO will personally lead me around and be my personal translator for the day. I wouldn't worry about it really.....I'm sure that most people with 100 miles of Cancun speak at least some English. Plus....it's a 182 DZ. It's not like you'll be on an Otter with 20 other people. Quote Me gusta su ovejas Puta! Devolver me ovejas!
jfields 0 #9 October 31, 2002 Actually, I'm not worried about it. First of all, because I'm not going to Cancun. Quote Devolver me ovejas! Tu ovejas? Mierda! Pero, no muy importante. Tu estas me oveja, amigo!

I know about enough gutter spanish to get me to the bathroom, to order food, and to get me smacked by any woman nearby. In your professional opinion, do you agree? skygod7777 0 #15 October 31, 2002 the dz in playa del carmon rocks. the people are so cool. they are a tandem factory though. there main priority is the tandems. but the view is awsome. the dz is right in a mall. you have to walk over to the airport. then you land down the beach a ways away, and get a ride, from the dz people, back to the mall. now it's 30 bucks a jump, so you don't make too many (that is unless your like made of money) so after your jump you can go around the corner and your at senor frogs to have a drink. later

happythoughts 0 #21 November 1, 2002 Quote Thats right. When I get mad at my hubby I rather stop talking and get physical Ya gotta have some boundaries somewhere and they should be strictly enforced. Good for you. Of course, when you aren't mad, he'd rather you stop talking and get physical then, too.
freeflir29 0 #22 November 1, 2002 QuoteWTF is that supposed to mean? OK....I'm writing Spanish with English grammar. Sorry.....I suck. It means "Go on Go and present. For you crazy relative workers." It was in reference to Jumper Paula's sig line.
Enrique 0 #23 November 1, 2002 It means "Go on Go and present. For you crazy relative workers." *** I would have never guessed! Specially the "regalo" part; in Spanish, "regalo" means "gift", but the translation of the kind of present you are talking about [pronounced presént in English] is presenta.
