Vote Chris Welker, National Director

Recommended Posts

Why should you vote for me? Because I care about the sport and the direction that our association is going in.

I am a S&TA, AFF-I, Vector Tandem-I, and fun jumper. My home DZ is West Tennessee Skydiving and I have jumped there since I started skydiving June 12,1996.

If you would like to know my views on a particular topic I would be glad to share them with you and I would also like to know yours too.

Yes... I care about the sport too, doesn't mean people should vote for me.
Some other good information to volunteer:
How many jumps total? In last 12 months?
Give one or two areas/policies of the USPA that you think need changed or addressed. Do you actually have any plans going in? Or just planning on reacting to whatever happens?

Chris... same questions I asked Max yesterday...
Do you think the USPA is communicating enough with its members or do you think its not enough? If its not enough how do you think the USPA could increase it?
Will you be able to be contacted electronically like a lot of jumpers are becoming more versed in (just look at the number of people who post here)?
What are your feelings on the Group Member program?
There is another extremely active jumper (Mike Ortiz) currently on the bod that seems unable to answer weekly questionares from individuals on rec.skydiving, is your active jumping going to affect your ability to respond to questions like this from jumpers?
Do you see any changes are needed to any of the regulations/rules/bsr's/training?
And my final question... do you think there needs to be a change in the nature of the AFF-JM training with the introduction of the ISP (seperate rating for upper level jumps, a canopy coaching training like for RW, etc)?
Yesterday is history
And tomorrow is a mystery

Chris --

First things first . . . did your photos travel well back home?

Ok, you've listed some of your skydiving accomplishments and believe me I think we'd all like all of our BoD members to be active skydivers, but could you go into some of your business accomplishments? I'm thinking the National Director ought to have a bit of experience there as well.

Also, do you have any political experience? I'm thinking our National Director needs at least some experience as a lobbyist or gladhander.

In the last 12 months I have made a total of 294 skydives.

I would like to get rid of the EXTRA course fees that are charged to NON-GM DZ's for hosting a rating course. All of the rating courses are for the benefit of all the members of the USPA not just GM DZ's.

Yes, I do have a plan.

No, I feel that the membership is not being informed the way it should be.

We have more ways of communicating with people via the internet and we are not taking advantage of the situation.

The Group Membership program needs to go away. USPA was not intended to be a trade organization: however, it is moving that way. DZO's should form their own trade organization if that is what they want to do."No person can serve to masters"

No,I have been a regular respondent to Mondays with the BOD.

Rules and regs. need to be modified from time to time, but I don't see any major items that need to be changed as of now.

In regards to the instructor training situation, there are some mods that could be made.

What about the election process? Should the election process be changed so that candidates will be able to run a better campaign in the warmer months? Will you move to have these rules changed?

What about Nationals selection? Are you for allowing DZs to bid on Nationals every year or are you for keeping it in one location every year?

First things first . . . did your photos travel well back home? Yes and they do look GREAT! Thanks again.

Ok, you've listed some of your skydiving accomplishments and believe me I think we'd all like all of our BoD members to be active skydivers, but could you go into some of your business accomplishments? 13 + years of multi-unit automotive aftermarket management and 5+ years of running my own business. I'm thinking the National Director ought to have a bit of experience there as well.

Also, do you have any political experience? No. I'm thinking our National Director needs at least some experience as a lobbyist or gladhander.

No.

Wow, that was a real interesting response. Very creative. Shows your enthusiasm for some of the fun we have in this sport. Hey, would you like to become a member of The Flying Hellfish? I could arange it for you. We'll get you a number and a card and a t-shirt and you could feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

By the way, we have nearly 400 members internationally. All - or, well, most - great skydivers that have been in the sport for longer than I've been alive. In fact, even Evel Knievel is an honorary hellfish, HF#USA1. You shouldn't write off such a great thing so quickly.

In his defense, (he is my husband), you asked a question, and he answered it.

He is not the best typist and is not used the to kindness (seriously) in a skydiving forurm.

Trust me, had you asked him in person, you will still be talking about it.

That's cool. No worries. To each their own. This is a friendly and relaxed forum that he popped up in. I just thought he wrote me off pretty quickly. I guess my question wasn't as important as some of the others. I'm sure he is a really nice guy - I've heard good things - but if he's trying to win votes, he should probably dedicate a bit more time than just "no." Blue skies. B|
