emartin 0 #8 October 29, 2002 from foxnews.com QuoteTuesday, October 29, 2002 ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A Federal Express truck has exploded along I-270 in St. Louis, near the Illinois state line. Debris is strewn all over the road, and the highway has been closed. The cab of the 18-wheel truck appears to be undamaged, leading authorities to believe that a combustible package may have exploded inside the trailer. Federal Express spokeswoman Sandra Munoz said both drivers on the truck were OK and no one else was injured. sounds like the best case scenario to me...wonder what it was? fastmartin2002 0 #9 October 29, 2002 they came back with an update that it was the result of a fuel tank exploding on the truck. apparently a vehicle cut the truck off and it ran off the roadway resulting in the tank being ruptured. not being treated as a terrorist incident.------good news! wildblue 7 #12 October 29, 2002 Quotethey came back with an update that it was the result of a fuel tank exploding on the truck. Scratching head.... wondering how many other oversized, diesel powered vehicles have 'exploded' when a fuel tank ruptured.... not to mention leaving the cab perfectly intact, and the trailer looks like it's cut in half. Where's Chile? freeflir29 0 #15 October 29, 2002 HHmmmm...in that picture it looks like the "tractor" part was undamaged. I suppose the tank could have ruptured and leaked fuel. Then caught on fire......but it does look pretty fishy to me at the moment. *shrug*
