flyhi 24 #1 October 29, 2002 This article from the British newspaper of the year actually brought a tear to my eye. I may go home tonight and drink a warm beer while eating a really well boiled supper. You guys rock.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics. nacmacfeegle 0 #2 October 29, 2002 Must not post......... "the British newspaper of the year " I don't know if you've ever seen a copy of the Mirror in the flesh, I have, and how it can call itself the newspaper of the year is beyond me. This paper does a nice job of rousing sentiment against Islam in this article, that's just what we need right now in a multi cultural society. By all means go after the perpetrators of this hideous crime, justice must be seen to be done, and closure must be evident to enable the healing, but for heaven's sake don't let's start a religious war. That is not what the "War on Terror" is all about, or am I missing something here? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Skyrad 0 #4 October 29, 2002 I don't think that any sane person could argue that 9/11 was anything but an evil act. However this article seems to over look alot that has been done in the wake of last year, that gos against the very principles that America holds so dear. I feel that this type of article is not only biased in the extreame but inflamatory in a time where bridges between the sane majority of the peoples of the east and west need to be strengthened not undermined. Peace to you all. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. wmw999 2,534 #5 October 29, 2002 There has to be some room between "what happened on 9/11 is evil" and "if you're not with us you're against us, and if you try to consider reasons to learn something you're justifying it." I KNOW the article didn't say that, but the implication is sure there. Trying to figure out how someone got the Ebola virus doesn't mean you think they deserved it. It just means you want to see what conditions can contribute to a devastating and deadly illness. Not looking at factors that might have contributed to the thinking that led to 9/11 (well, beyond the "evil terrorist bad/noble American good" analysis I've heard) is as good a way as any to stay warm in our little room, feeding ourselves, while the house is falling down. DYEVOUT 0 #7 October 30, 2002 "Once we were told that Saddam gassed the Kurds, tortured his own people and set up rape-camps in Kuwait. Now we are told he likes Quality Street. Save me the orange centre, oh mighty one!" Does anyone know what the "Quality Street" reference means ? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
