base698 19 #1 October 29, 2002 Max Cohn's post made me think of something. How on Earth does one achieve 1000 jumps a year (not doing tandems or other paying skydiving stuff)? Is it paid by yourself or what? I am trying to come up with a method to do this (that's why i'm still in school). Don't know how feasible it will be. So far Job + no rent seems like it will work. wlie 0 #2 October 29, 2002 Well... I think if you're a good instructor students will happily pay for your slot. And if you're damn good, they might throw in a slut too. My other ride is the relative wind.

wlie 0 #4 October 29, 2002 My trust fund only takes cash deposits. Jump tickets are welcome too. My other ride is the relative wind.
Skyrose7 0 #5 October 29, 2002 I think the only way to achieve that would be good weekday job + no rent + no bills + prostitution (with good rates, of course). hmmmm..it almost sounds reasonable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. Jessica 0 #6 October 29, 2002 QuoteSo far Job + no rent seems like it will work. And a pretty well-paying job too. That's about $18,000 just for jumps. You gotta eat too. And pay taxes.Skydiving is for cool people only
happythoughts 0 #7 October 29, 2002 Quote***And a pretty well-paying job too. That's about $18,000 just for jumps. You gotta eat too. And pay taxes. Only people who work on a dz do 1000 jumps a year. Besides the cost, it is the time and availability. It rains sometimes. Up north, it snows. You've got to be out there all week, thus a dz job. Video or instructing. I know people who do a 1000 jumps a year and do not work on the dz. They are rich.
base698 19 #8 October 29, 2002 That's what I've been factoring in. Good job obviously. And I think you could get out with like $12 a jump. If you hand any DZ that much cash at the start of the year they'll have to give you a killer discount.
PhreeZone 20 #9 October 29, 2002 I know some one that slaped down a few grand at the start of the year and was allowed to jump with no fee between certian dates. Something like 5 grand would get you March 1- September 1. One year in the sport and this person has 1400 jumps and if not for bad timing at work would probally be a medal winner in S/A.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
pilotdave 0 #10 October 29, 2002 Just did a quick calculation... at my current rate, I'll be hitting 1000 jumps in just under 58 years. WOOOOOHOOOOOO! Almost there!!!! Dave

A couple of guys at Elsinore did that last year, from what I heard.
