What Should I Do With The Ring?

Don't dwell in the past. I don't think you need some stupid hunk o' metal to remember the crap you endured.

Yeah it won't be around anymore no matter what I do with it.

It's a small gold band with a small diamond. Probably not worth all that much. And I'm sort of into symbolism anyway. ;) I can keep it in an envelope in a drawer somewhere until the time is right.

Liz always threatened me with divorce if I took up BASE, she hated the idea of me BASE jumping. So I'm still partial to Bridge Day. Or maybe Perrine if I get out there sooner. ;)

I don't agree with Jess very often Zennie.. So on this matter I agree get rid of it. Even if it's for a few jump tickets or like you said let it pay for a BASE jump. Whatever you do don't let it hold to much power over your life. Don't give a piece of jewelry that kinda power..

Cya round dood...

Have your rigger pack it in your reserve, so next time you cutaway, you'll cutaway that "symbol" at the same time... Cachink!! Pop! Whoof!!! :: ring tumbling away :: "Buhbye spinning malfunction!... Hello beautiful!"

Oh, the horror! Believe it or not, it happens occasionally that we agree on things. If you really want the definition of a snowball's chance in hell, I'd say it is AggieDave and I agreeing about gun control. :o:)

that may be good but if you into symbolism why would you want that tainted thing on EVERY skydive with you

Yeah the bad juju thing sort of crossed my mind too, but the symbolism is so damn perfect. ;)

Then again, it's not like I'm wishing a mal on myself. I might never get rid of the damn thing if I go that route. :P

Bridge is looking mighty tempting... ;)

tell me when you plan to throw it off a bridge and I will be at the bottom to catch it and hock it for jump $$$

No kidding. After reading Lisa's post i was thinking on taking a trip to go look for the tossed away rings.

You said there are diamonds involved? A good friend of mine was helping me decide what to do with my old ring. He had the best suggestion for the diamonds: "Glue them to your ex's windshield wipers."

In the end I gave the diamonds to a waitress as a tip.

Nah, not heavy at all. It was just a ring that had special meaning to him from his past. Since he wouldnt return all my stuff after we broke up and because he left me in a world of debt, I decided I'd hang on to it for just such a reason. I watched it twinkle and spiral down from about 4K ft into some field next to the DZ. That was a good jump IMHO.
