Guest #1 October 23, 2002 Some of the group are trying to coordinate a date/time to host a Mostly-Skydiver or Dropzone.com FPS (First-Person Shooter) game. Please choose which game or variant you would prefer. Personally, I love Quake III arena, with Team Fortress a close second."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." The best I've ever pinged is 150ms, and I average around 250ms (yes, 1/4 second) on most servers. Geez, I wish I had DSL."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." I have that game but have never tried playing multiplayer. Is it possible ? 150-250ms ping times ?? Damn, I must be spoiled. I rarely jump on a server unless I am getting sub100 pings. I usually average around 50 and play on HomeLan servers. http://www.homelanfed.com/servers/serverlist.php Must go find Falcon 4.0 and dust off box and install Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Guest #10 October 23, 2002 I always found CS to be frustratingly tough, especially with high pings. Team Fortress was a lot more flexible - I could play a role that didn't need high speed, like an Engineer or HW. What was fun was waiting for a Scout or Medic to come running down to the flag room, then chuck a cluster bomb at the flag as they turned the corner. If you timed it carefully, they would have just snatched the flag when they went kablooie! "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Lolie 0 #13 October 23, 2002 Why isn't there a choice for Tetris? That's the only game I can play on a computer. Well, that and Minesweeper... I don't have a server, so I think we should all agree to hook up to a particular server at a pre-arranged date and time, maybe Saturday night. Maybe email the owners and tell them we'd like to reserve a couple of hours or something. I would of course prefer a server in my area to help with my pppr (piss-poor ping rate). Make sure you have the latest version of the patch, etc. so that you don't get delayed in hooking up. mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
