Viking 0 #27 October 22, 2002 before i started jumping, i was a shy kid from Louisiana who couldn't talk to a cute girl if his life depended on it. I would always keep to myself. After i started jumping that shell i had built up during my life started to get chipped away. I became more relaxed and made lots of friends, and learned how to have a good time. Since i started jumping i have way more confidence than i thought possible. Up until i a few months ago i was still a litte bit reserved and shy. Then i met Sudsyfist and the rest of the airwhores. Those guys have tought me so much and helped me come out of my shell. And then there was Lisa dragging my ass onto the dance floor at the jftc party saturday night. Before that night i had never really enjoyed myself at a party. That whole night put a nice big hole in that shell. I suspect that Eloy is gonna shatter it and then who knows whats gonna happen!! *smacks dove on the ass* how you doin? freeflir29 0 #32 October 22, 2002 Quote Skydivemonkey summed it up for me Me too....I used to spend my weekends on an endless quest to get laid as many times as possible before I get old and have to pay for it... Now...I almost never get laid....and I really don't care. I'd rather hang out with my friends at the DZ. Oh...and believe it or not...I think I drink a little less now. Deuce 1 #34 October 22, 2002 I was very focused and frustrated by my old job, and then I lost it. I spent about two years pretty lost, and then I found skydiving, or it found me. Now I'm frustrated by my current job, but I don't really care, cause I'm focused on skydiving and I have more fun in everything I do. I've met super great people, and because of Sangiro, I have skydiving aquaintances around the world! How coolOh, and I lost a hundred pounds in there, and I keep it off because getting new gear would be prohibitive, and skydivers are merciless when you can't get into your jumpsuit. Snowbird 0 #37 October 22, 2002 Warning, small book coming...Before September 14, 2001... Looking for something in life, without knowing what. Feeling like I didn't deserve to be happy. No confidence. Letting the currents of life toss me around, because I just didn't know how to do otherwise. Even when I joined jiu-jitsu, after 5 years I still didn't feel like it was me. The club, the people, the sport always felt a bit distant although I loved it and dedicated myself to training. I used writing and reading as paths to escape, living vicariously through fiction. Many mornings I didn't even want to get out of bed, because my life seemed so insignificant. I needed routine and consistency just to get through a day. I used to stay home, set roots, and never take chances. Now... I found it. I've never been this passionate about anything else. Not writing, not art, not jiu-jitsu, not camping/hiking. Skydiving has changed how I view life, how I live life, and how I live in life. I don't want to escape life, I wake up each morning excited, and maybe the most amasing thing is that I'm truly satisfied and happy. I feel like the people I've met through skydiving actually like me, and want me around. They aren't just tolerating me; they really mean it. Combine that with the physical act of overcoming fear and learning to skydive, and I've found the confidence to steer myself through the currents of life and do the things I want to do. My inner child who was full of fear, has evolved into an inner gypsy who just wants to get out and see the world and be part of it. They say home is where the heart is, and I've finally found my home. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. freeflir29 0 #39 October 22, 2002 Hmm....I think I have LESS of a social life now than I did before skydiving. Seems to be opposite most others experience.
jraf 0 #40 October 22, 2002 No Clay it's just that now you get to hang out with the same assholes all the time. We either need more women in this sport or we need to put horrible penalties on skydiver chicks having relationships with whuffos. I propose public flogging jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. homer 0 #41 October 22, 2002 skydiving is the best thing that has happened to me. yet it is going to ruin my life. skydiving is all I ever think about anymore as well as talk about. I'm struggling in school because all I ever do is doodle RW formations in class. infact I should be working on psychology right now. I've thought about dropping out of school after this quarter and moving to another DZ. It's all I want to do and all I ever think about. I have at least 4 skydiving dreams a week. My name is Scott Petersen and I'm addicted to skydiving CSA #699 Muff #3804
CanuckInUSA 0 #42 October 22, 2002 Yes I do agree. Due to the lower percentage of female skydivers in the sport compared to their male counterparts, females need to be penalized (public flogged shoulds reasonable) if they date whuffos. Either that or the skydiving babes need to get more of their sisters involved in the sport. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

councilman24 37 #44 October 22, 2002 Well, considering that B.S was in 1978, I don't remember.Oh, I did make sure the house I bought had a forty foot basement for rigging rounds. And my ashes will rattle and be too dangerous to spread in freefall.Hey Lisa, Which one are you in THE picture? I want to label my new wallpaper. I'm old for my age. wmw999 2,452 #46 October 22, 2002 Well, considering that B.S was in 1978, I don't remember. Similar for me. 1975, I was 20 and in college. Since this was the 70's, and I was in college, I certainly don't remember... I also have a long between skydiving. Life can be good without it, life is good with it, life is best if the other things in your life don't make skydiving hard, or too hard to do and have fun. There are other important things. It's no longer the most important thing in my life, and right now I like that. But I'll tell all you skydiving guys that not all skydivers like independent women, or at least they didn't in the 70's and early 80's Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
goose491 0 #47 October 22, 2002 Skydiving has added that much-needed 'grain of salt' with wich every single aspect of life is meant to be taken with! I mean honnestly, since I've held my own life in my own hands...and do so on a regular basis... All things in life become sooooo much simpler does it not? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! nws01 0 #49 October 22, 2002 Made me realize how nice it is to be free in life. Free of all the B.S. that is out there in this crazy world. How not to judge people by their appearance but by who they are inside. How by being free and living a life filled with adventure is the only way to live. It opened my inner soul up to see me as I am. Not as a p.c. individual living life for others.
rhino 0 #50 October 22, 2002 How has skydiving changed my life?? HOW HASN'T IT CHANGED MY LIFE? I really didn't know any REAL people before I started jumping.. Skydivers TEND to walk the talk instead of talk the walk if you know what I mean.. I am more agressive in all aspects of life. My only true friends "other than my son, fiance and her little girl" are skydivers. Skydivers are there for you when family isn't.. Which is pretty much allways. You guys are my family. Blood, sweat and tears baby.. We have all been there and done that together.. I have skydiving friends all over the world that in some way shape or form give a shit about fellow skydivers.. Lately? Recent events? I have taken a long, hard look at my life.. I am in the process of re-focusing. Skydiving remains in the forefront as it will allways be in the front of my priority list of "therapy" if you will.. And most of all... I GOT TO SEE THE RACK!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I GOT TO SEE IT AND SOME OF YOU DIDN'T!!! NA NA NI BOO BOO!! Rhino
