AggieDave 6 #9 October 21, 2002 There's some really good FBI guys and gals out there, most of the ones that I've met that were field agents are great people who work very hard. Its the people in the higher ranking positions that seem to be asshats. (I have a close relative that works for the FBI and have met quite a few agents over the years, and this is just my observation).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." wmw999 2,537 #10 October 21, 2002 QuoteThere's some really good FBI guys and gals out there, ... That's true of most jobs. Really. Even social workers (speaking as a former social worker), politicians, and, GASP, computer programmers. It only takes a couple of pieces of crap to stink up the whole barrel. And if a piece of crap has a loud voice or a position where they are likely to be heard, then the effect's magnified. That said, I sure hope that if they publish the name of who they have, it's the right guy. And boyohboyohboy do I hope it's the right guy(s). I want him to turn out to be some sort of lame-o loser who picks his nose, doesn't wear clean clothes, and has no life. Just to make what he did as unattractive as possible. AggieDave 6 #11 October 21, 2002 QuoteJust to make what he did as unattractive as possible. Definately. That's all we need now, wanna-be's going out there and trying to do something stupid like this. That'd make the anti-gun liberals go crazy, ending in yet another infringement of my gun rights. Sad that people are asshats and do stuff like this.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Daizey 0 #12 October 21, 2002 Cnn also is saying that sources say authorities are "optomistic". Sources also said that the two people in custody are promising... Theres a news briefing at 1:00 pm eastern time..... *daizey*
bobsled92 0 #13 October 21, 2002 Well, he'll(the sniper) will let us know, ie: when the NEWS said "well it looks like he doesn't target school grounds, then pow, he did. they said he doesn't shoot on weekends and only people standing still(gas stations) pow-pow,Saturday and target was moving. This guy is shooting between heartbeats and one of the top 3 sniper rifles (non-.50 cal) is .223 HK 2-trigger, the 26" barrel is 80% total weight. My Dad's men used .50 cal & this HK 223. NOT that"AR-15 and a really good scope" B.S. We're talking a possible 200+YARDS not roof top to corner store. This guy is good enough to do what ever they said he couldn't on TV. They're baiting him for more press/shooting/ratings. I'm staying right here in Amish country, I got shot by a high-way sniper when I was 11(pow:in the front-out the back) Schukill Expressway, Philadelphia. It's like my Dad said, "less you know, the better you will sleep". ps. my father was a counter-terroism specialist who died on his last mission "hostage retreival " well ouside of Bogata, Columbia. -Toxicity of a chemical bomb he dismantled gave him enough time to return to Alyxandria and see us before passing away._______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
wildblue 7 #14 October 21, 2002 Didn't the news last night say he left a note with a phone number? And then today they said they nabbed a guy in a white mini-van at a payphone? Wouldn't that be hilarious? If the guy gave them a payphone number to call him, and they just showed up there and arrested him. I don't know just yet if it's him though, they kept talking about a full-sized van I thought, and this is a mini-van.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
AggieDave 6 #15 October 21, 2002 Quotethey kept talking about a full-sized van I thought, and this is a mini-van. Michele 1 #16 October 21, 2002 MSNBC is reporting that there is only one person in custody...there seems to be some confusion about how many people there are in custody, though, because other sources are saying there are two. Someone said there was originally two "persons of interest" held, but one was released. The white van has been impounded. No gun has been found in the van or at the phone booth. A search warrant has been issued for the house the white van was registered to. I hope it is the guy. Michele 1 #17 October 21, 2002 Update..... It looks like neither of the two held subjects taken into custody this morning is the sniper. Whether or not they have something to do with this is still uncertain... Chief Moose has just held a press briefing, stating to the effect that "we have not understood your last message, some of the audio was not clear. Please call again"...which would seem to indicate that the sniper is still at large. Chief Moose is talking directly to the sniper again. Last night and now this afternoon... wmw999 2,537 #20 October 21, 2002 The problem with high-profile cases is that every mistake is magnified, and even right thing you do is just what's expected. Makes police more conservative about what they do, when everyone is screaming for action. Because they know that for every mistake, they'll be pilloried. I have a feeling they're working very very hard on this. And that more mistakes will be made. But such is life. If the snipings stop, that's good. If the snipings stop and we catch the right guy, even better. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. Daizey 0 #23 October 22, 2002 I guess they didn't catch him yesterday....being how there was another shooting. Whether it was related to him or not is still unknown... jfields 0 #24 October 22, 2002 Yup. I couldn't leave my house for several hours this morning because I live so close to this shooting that all the exits out of my neighborhood were roadblocked. This shooting was probably about a mile or so from my house.
megscott73 0 #25 October 22, 2002 Yeah, I think they said yesterday that the two people they caught were just in the wong place at the wrong time. They had nothing to do with it.
