DYEVOUT 0 #1 October 21, 2002 Hi I have been shopping on the internet for my first rig - and found one that I, and a rigger, both think is a decent deal. How is payment usually handled? I know the shipping is on me, but I want to be able to return this thing if it fails inspection - and not lose my hard earned cash. Sure would appreciate some help from you more experienced folks ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." No point in paying shipment to pay for an inspection the rig fails to pass, right? >but I want to be able to return this thing if it fails inspection - and >not lose my hard earned cash. This has been discussed a couple of times here, so a search might turn up some threads with more info. Generally, some kind of middle-man is used. A DZO or a rigger for example. I'm guessing the rig is on the other side of the country so you can't take a trip and go see it for yourself?
PhreeZone 20 #3 October 21, 2002 I just bought a canopy the seller shipped to me for free to inspect. Lots of options out there, most people will trust you to pay for gear and will ship it to you for free to inspect.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
annaandbob 0 #4 October 21, 2002 You might want to use the services of a third party, such as a gear shop so they can do a full inspection after which they will fax you a complete report, before you send any money to the seller.
DYEVOUT 0 #5 October 21, 2002 The guy just got back to me. The goddamn thing sold last week. Looked like the perfect rig for a new guy my size. Oh well, will file your info for future use. Thanks ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
Michele 1 #6 October 21, 2002 Sorry about that, Dyevout... Sometimes, the seller will ship it to you without the use of an escrow, if he knows you or your rigger. I had the gentleman who sold me my main ship it directly to my rigger, so he knew I was having it checked out. It passed, so I sent him a check for the cost of the main, and the cost of the shipping, and an additional jump tix amount because he trusted me and my rigger... It's all in how you set it up and negotiate it. Good luck! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
