Magistr8 0 #1 October 18, 2002 I am going to be getting a full face helmet in the off season and have narrowed it down between 2 choices 1) the Factory Diver 2) Z1 FFH The thing here is that I have not gotten an e-mail back from the Para-sports web site to find out how much a new helmet would be. If anyone has info on this helmet please PM me or post replies. "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." pilotdave 0 #2 October 18, 2002 You'll find LOTS of info if you do a search. But, I'll just say I have a Z1 and I'm happy with it. I think their quality control SUCKS and customer service is apparently worse, but it's a decent helmet. They don't seem to age well, the paint chips and the neck liner comes unglued. I haven't had that happen yet, but some paint around the visor has chipped a little tiny bit (on the edge). Mine always seems to fog up in cold weather after opening, but I always just open it up so it's no problem. Never had it fog in freefall. Overall I'm happy with it but it definitely could be improved. Dunno anything about factory divers except that the visor doesnt open and the golden knights use em. Magistr8 0 #3 October 18, 2002 My friend has a factory diver and his works just great, no fogging, no paint chipping and a comfortable next liner. He got his on E-bay for around $100 CANADIAN! I was hoping to get a great deal as well "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." Napoleon Bonaparte

flypunk 0 #5 October 18, 2002 The Z1 is a great helmet. I own one and its been great so far. A new one should run you about +- 250. The best thing it has is the flip up visor which really comes in handy. The A3 is about the same price range, dont have any comments on it though. One word of advise would be try em out first and see what fits better. Z1 tends to be more eliptical shape and the A3 is more round as far as head shape. Good luck. ... SkydiveMonkey 0 #7 October 18, 2002 I like my Z1 - since I moved the linig away from the vents in the front, it's never fogged up, even under canopy.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages

Remster 30 #11 October 18, 2002 If you jump in weather that gets cold (lmao.. in Canada,.. that never happens), get one with a flip up (Z1 or oxygen). You may get LOTS condensation after opening, and that can ge dangerous if you can clear it quick.Remster
sar911 0 #12 October 18, 2002 I have the new Bonehead Boomerang that is awsome !!!! Super lightweight, great fit and cheap lens replacement. $235. And for you big cow head guys like me 24 1/2", they even make them that big. And the company was great to work with.
Dumpster 0 #13 October 18, 2002 I love my Z-1 - Opens easy under canopy, and on mine the collar hasn't come unglued, I think thier quality may have improved in this area. I jump mine year-round, although I am considering a Bonehead and face mask for the real cold stuff this winter- Easy Does It
nacmacfeegle 0 #14 October 18, 2002 I don't own a full face, I've used a 'fridge' from cool n groovy, but thats a long time ago now. The Z1 looks to me like the best option, I know a well known poster here who has dropped hers from about 3000ft, and it survived pretty well, so I'd opt for one of those....-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. ernokaikkonen 0 #15 October 18, 2002 >dropped hers from about 3000ft, and it survived pretty well, so I'd >opt for one of those.... Surviving drops isn't exactly the first thing I'd look into in a helmet... It tells practically nothing of the protective value of it.
nacmacfeegle 0 #16 October 18, 2002 It tells practically nothing of the protective value of it. But in the absence of any other 'formal testing' what would you use as a guide? ernokaikkonen 0 #17 October 18, 2002 >But in the absence of any other 'formal testing' what would you >use as a guide? I dunno. Take turns wearing different helmets and be repeatedly hit on the head with a baseball-bat? Wear a helmet and bang your head on a wall, see which one feels the best?Seriously, I'd take one that has a lot of foam-padding(to reduce the rate of deceleration during an impact), like a protec/fairwind, or one that absorbs the impact-energy by cracking/crushing itself(I'd suppose most fullface models do that). >Bear in mind this is coming from a guy who jumps a Gath Which IMO is best at protecting your ears from freezing off...I use a Fairwind(Italian Protec-style) myself... mouth 0 #18 October 18, 2002 I own a Factory Diver flip up. It is the older style but you can still get them I think. (hum, can't believe I've had it almost 3 yrs 300 jumps and it was used when I got it) I have really enjoyed it. Face shields are easily replaced and fairly inexpensive compared to most. The padding has never come undone. It is starting to show some wear from hitting it on the top bar in the otter going out but I never feel anything. I agree that the best thing to do is find one of each type you like and try it on for comfort before you buy. You can search the site for deals too. There is a yellow Z1 in the classifieds size med I think. Good Luck. Lisa -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. skybytch 273 #20 October 18, 2002 Before deciding, try each of them on. Different helmets fit different heads; your head may fit best in neither one. The Z1 seems to fit smaller heads better. I was not impressed with ParaSport's customer service when I had a problem with a Skytronic Pro - and I work for a company that was a large dealer for them. JGarcia 0 #21 October 18, 2002 The first full face I bought was a Z1. I had it for about 2 weeks until I tried on my friend's Oxygn. The Oxygn was a lot more comfortable and I liked the flip up lens and profile better. The thing that killed it for the Z1 was the bunch of material at the mouth, made it feel rather stuffy. And jumping in FL weather, that's the last thing I needed. I've since sold my Oxygn and upgraged to the Oxygn-A3 (another flip up lens from SkySystems) and have nothing but good things to say about it. I just replace the lens every 10 months or so, depending on usage (about $22 from Square1). I would strongly suggest trying them both out. I didn't, and ended up with the hassle of having to return the Z1. --JairoLow Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
Rdutch 0 #22 October 18, 2002 Helmets for protectiion? Hitting the ground at 120 mph, I dont think the helmet will do much for you. Skydiving helmets are used to soften slight blows, Like elbow's and knee's. If you had an impact hard enough to break your helmet, Its probably going to break you with it.
