blewaway5 0 #31 October 17, 2002 My first five were static line, but then I got broke when I went to college and took a winter long break and ended up switching dropzones, where I did IAD. I never did a tandem cause I always figured I'd love skydiving. wouldn't ya know it, I figured right Truman Sparks for President

Skitzo 0 #37 October 17, 2002 4 statics 2AFFS w/2 Instructors 6AFFw/1 Instructor The first time I went a group of us were just going to go "parachute" I had no clue about actual fall time. The leader of our group decided that static line was the way were going to go and me not knowing anything just went along with it. (Not complaing It was great!) I had to keep coming back for more. It was when I got home and watched the tape and the leader showed all the freefalling, I was like holy shit, it gets better?!! I ran back to the DZ and got through my AFF as fast as I could to beat the winter! Everbody else out of that group thought I was crazy! - "How do you keep your feet on the ground when you know you were born to fly?"

wmw999 2,446 #39 October 17, 2002 It might be interesting to run this poll with people who have trained within the last 10 years or something like that. When I started, SL was the only option in the known universe (except for Johnny Carson's famous "buddy jump"). AFF didn't come along until 1982 or so, and tandem progressions came after that. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. CanuckInUSA 0 #40 October 17, 2002 I did a Tandem jump back on July 14th, 2002 thinking that it was going to be my only skydiving experience (a once in a lifetime ordeal). But once I got on the ground, I said to myself that "that was just way too cool not to do again" and I signed up for an AFF course being held the following week. And the rest is history. I'm now a licensed skydiver. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
