Military Airborne Operation Photo

Recommended Posts

I doubt it - at least if your comparing military jumps on rounds vs sport jumps on squares. My great uncle was a paratrooper in WW2 - just died this year. He and his entire squadron were dropped low on one practice jump (keep in mind that low was 500 feet ;)) - about half of them were injured, most leg and knee injuries. Of course that stop the old fool from dropping in on battle of the bulge later, but he became a cook not long aftewards.
Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Those were the lawn dart days, indeed!

I'm not actually sure what DZ it is, other than that I'm pretty sure it was at Bragg. I think it was the return jump-in from Panama. I wasn't in the actual picture. I just snagged a print. Maybe some Army old-timer Chuck could tell us which DZ it was. ;)

I was a grease monkey with the 313th MI

I'm really sorry....:D

Heheheehee...I was one of those Air Force guys with Army patches on my uniform and a black beret. Most Army AND Air Force people just stared at me with a confused look on their faces. I got to drop bombs on things.....;)
