AggieDave 6 #55 October 15, 2002 QuoteSo how was the Houston police academy? The Denver one is pretty intense A friend of mine is a cop in College Station now, he went to the College Station police academy, although he said after being in the Corps of Cadets, the academy was a walk. *shrug* Although we supposedly have a very good police academy, I doubt its anything as intense as H-town or Denver...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." wmw999 2,439 #57 October 15, 2002 I'd say that you're as welcome as anyone else (just adding my 2 cents' worth to everyone else). If you begin to see something you really don't want to, step away, and maybe have a mutual friend suggest to the participants that it's rude to do something that forces someone else out. A dropzone that's got polite people will be supportive of an alcoholic who wants to visit for awhile (as long as they don't ask everyone to completely change their lifestyle), and should also be supportive of a police officer who really doesn't want to see anything he might feel the need to do something about. And most would respect your feeling the need to do something about some illegal stuff (e.g. discussion about gear stealing...) Some skydivers are assholes and will give you a hard time. But you know, it's not just skydivers. I've known skydiving cops who partook (20+ years ago, and he no longer either skydives or cops as far as I know), and ones who didn't. I didn't even know that some were cops. Of course, not everyone knows I'm a rocket scientist, either Wendy W. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
