skybytch 273 #1 October 12, 2002 If this goes on a bit long and gets a bit sappy, please forgive me. It was just about a year ago when I found out that JFTC would be doing women's world record attempts this month. At the time, I was still grounded after having three vertebrae fused in January of '01, but as soon as I heard about it I started to make my plans. I was not going to be stuck on the ground when my friends were up doing big ways and setting a new world record. No way. No how. Not this time. I set my goals high - from being a grounded and broken average skydiver to being a world record holder in less than a year. I'd already sold my old rig because I knew it was too small for me to safely jump. Slowly I began to put together a new rig - a container from Kelly at Velocity Sports in November, a used reserve at a really good price in late December. I finally got back in the air in early January using a demo main from Square One; I ended up buying that too at a price I could almost afford. A few months later a friend allowed me to buy a used Cypres from him, again at a price I could almost afford. I've jumped harder than my budget could really stretch to pay for in the past ten months. Earning my slot at the big way camp in May was truly a highlight of my skydiving career and is something I will always remember. Breaking my main at the end of the camp and finding out a few weeks later that it was car cover material was a definite low point, but thanks to my awesome employers a few months later I had a brand new one. So here we are. On Monday it all begins for real. 140 ways. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am - it's like being a little kid the week before Christmas. This is truly the biggest thing I've ever done - not just the skydives, but the journey I've been on for the last year. So many people have helped me out along the way, with donations to JFTC, helping me get to the big way camp, and providing me with moral support - you all know who you are, and I hope you know how much what you did means to me. It's not enough, but to each and every one of you - Thank You from the bottom of my heart. All of you will be flying with me over the next week, and I love and appreciate each of you so much. For the next eight days, instead of post whoring I'll be out at the dropzone skydiving hard. Warm up formation loads this weekend, then the real thing starts bright and early Monday morning. I'll do my best to stop by every evening and post a daily recap of what we're up to, and I promise that when we get the record I'll get to a 'puter to let you all know as soon as I quit crying, laughing and celebrating. Again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support over the past ten months. This is truly a wonderful community and I'm so thankful to be a part of it. Okay, sappy stuff over with. I'll close this with something most all of you will appreciate - Boobies!!!

sar911 0 #9 October 12, 2002 Lisa, During the past year you have gained much more than you said. You have raised awareness to a wonderful cause, money to help those women and their families that you will probably never know in ways that you can’t even imagine. You have brought out the best in people with your desires, knowledge, humor, love, caring and concern. So when you go tomorrow, hold your head high, for the “record” that you seek, you have already exceeded more than can be measured. The “jump” is your reward for all that you have done. May God bless and protect all of you always. P.S. Fear nothing for you are the baddest mother in the valley !!!!
