I just this evening received news that Martin is in the hospital in Baltimore.
He had a terrible landing Sunday morning and broke many bones, including his
back and his pelvis.
I dont have the number or even the hospital name yet......maybe someone else in
the area can help out.
Everybody has an opinion on Martin, ya either love him or hate him.....I
personaly like him quite a bit and will be sending him all the energy I can.
Pray for him you guys.

Like JimBo says you either like Martin or you can't stand him, but either way he's most assuredly one of ours. Like jimbo, I happen to like Martin.

The email that he got and passed on to me said that he has broken both femurs as well as crushed his L7 vertebra. As I stated in the subject line, he turned onto final using risers with the toggles in hand and lost a toggle down low.

Martin and Tracey really need our help now.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

[:/]Geez - that's a damn shame - I had the pleasure of meeting Martin and Tracey this spring when I was getting my coach rating - good people as far as I'm concerned. My thoughts and prayers are aimed at Baltimore as of now. Good luck, Martin, and blue skies!

I heard about this a few days ago and I'm still pretty shocked. Martin is the most experienced, and by FAR the most safety conscious skydiver I know. I have though before that landing accidents fall into 2 categories... inexperienced jumpers making dumb mistakes like low turns, and very experienced jumpers flying highly loaded canopies messing up hook turns. This one doesn't fit either category. To me, that makes it really scary. Martin is the very LAST person I'd expect to get hurt like that, so it really has me thinking about the possibility of something like that happening to me. All I know is I'm not downsizing from my F111 canopy loaded at .8 any time soon.

"... the most safety conscious skydiver " Landing a canopy in a safe fashion has always been a constant topic with Martin. This just goes to show that you can do everything right and the law of averages will reach out and smack you. He already had kind of a limp, so this is going to be tough. Best wishes.

You can call Skydive Delmarava at 302-875-3540 anytime. Martin is our general manager. He and Tracy are a huge asset to our dropzone and also great friends. We hope to have Martin home soon. Tracy is going to put an update on Martin's condition tonight on rec.skydiving. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
