Hornet slider

Just bought a used Hornet 150 and I'm curious about the sllider of the canopy. I've heard that the slider is pretty huge for slowing the openings and so it was. But another thing, on the front and back of the slider is sewn a piece of material that looks like a pocket. Is this the way that the hornet's slider came from the factory, or is it modified after for slowing the openings? I've attached some not very clear pictures.hanks.

Those slider pockets were sewn on after it left the factory.
Standard Hornet sliders have no pockets.

Hei, thanks a lot for the answer. Tomorow I will have the first jumps on it. Hope the size and the pockets on the slider do their job and I'll have some pretty confortable openings.

my hornet opens slow without one but Ive heard some other hornet has fast opennings maybe this was one of those models
