174fps 1 #27 October 5, 2002 Here in Edmonton (same latitude as Windypeg) we usually get a shot of snow in early October as we did this morning. It's melted now, though as it has been most of this year its too windy to jump. This yr Calgary got snow in AUGUST We jump year round as long as temps above -10c. We quite often get inversions where it is warm at altitude. Also we have heated packing area. Andrew

whatme 0 #29 October 6, 2002 I totally agree with skymama! I would love to have more than 1 1/2 seasons each year(1 season summer and 1/2 season fall/winter). I live in N. Fla. and it does reach 10s and 20s here every few years.

Magistr8 0 #32 October 6, 2002 Did I just miss a boogie in calgary. Some my friends went on a trip there last month and said that there was a big get together about 50 people or so and had a blast. riggerrob 643 #33 October 6, 2002 Last January we had a week of 10 degrees C. below freezing with about a foot of snow on the ground. The rest of the year it is usually above freezing in the afternoons.

Florida and Texas are to be excluded from this highly scientific post for deprression will severly alter results Yes, but what about the depression I suffer because it's so damn hot all the time. I love winter, it's my favorite season-bring it on, please! I swear.. people are NEVER happy.. people up north complain because they don't live in the south, people in the south don't like the heat.. hell i lived in mississippi for the last 20 years now i'm in virginia.. i guess i don't have much room to talk... I need two places and a flexible job.. one in flordia and one up here... that would be nice. :)
Magistr8 0 #36 October 6, 2002 I know isn't it great. It makes me wonder why the phrase "Why can't we all just get along" seems to be used as often as it does "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." steve1 5 #37 October 6, 2002 The High Line of Eastern Montana is probably the coldest area in Montana. We get a lot of cold fronts that come down from Canada. Then the wind gets howling. The chill factor sometimes get down to -80 degrees F. I'll be glad to retire and get the hell out, in about six years. Steve1
174fps 1 #38 October 6, 2002 Quote Did I just miss a boogie in Calgary They had a chopper come in for the weekend at Dids a few weeks back. Don't know of any others. Now it's windy and raining here. Andrew
skybytch 273 #39 October 6, 2002 I think it gets down under 20 degrees F here once in a while. It snowed twice in the six years I've lived here - it melted right away of course. Today it's in the low 90's, super clear and sunny. Don't hate me cuz I was smart enough to be born in the Golden State

AggieDave 6 #42 October 6, 2002 It gets really damn cold here in Texas, well for Texas it gets cold. Up north where I'm from (North Texas, that is), it'll get down around 10F and below each winter, down here it gets down to around 20-30F for a bit each winter, but then again, we seem to always have a warm streak in December and another one in January, althoug Feburary seems to kick everyone's ass...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Schroeder 0 #43 October 7, 2002 Where I grew up we'd have -45 and a little lower quite regularly. I recall 2 months where the temp did not once go about -40. All celcius, no that it really matters at that temp. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me? Snowbird 0 #44 October 7, 2002 Quote We haven't had alot of snow for many winters- has been mild with green xmas/ some snow in Jan. So do you stay open through the winter, at least on weekends? The Vernon dz will be closing in November, and I'm thinking that a couple trips to the lower mainland are in order. Between Pitt, Abbotsford and Victoria, someone must stay open... (she says hopefully) We'll have snow towards Christmas, that will last for a few months. A week or two of -20oC in January, then mild until we warm up in March. Rarely anything severe, although ever now and then we are hit with a doozer of a winter. I'll take our winter over Manitoba winter anyday. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
