That's why smokes are $3 a pack here...[:/] Phucking idiots!!!

Oh REPUBLICAN mayor Bloomburg in NYC upped the tax on smokes so now Camel filters are $9.50 a pack in Manhattan. So if you want to buy cigs, you have to take the PATH train to Joisey to get a decent price ($5 for new england is about avg).

In New Braunfels, there is a neat little smoke store DAWN BAH THE RIV-ER that's charging 2.75

$3? Dude, that's a fucking deal, I think they're damn near $5 here

I smoke a pack an a half a day sometimes more when I'm having some adult beverages. But at a convienent store they run about $4.35 a pack. I've been getting coupons from Marlboro that give me $7.50 off a carton. When a carton can run as much as $35 it's a nice savings. This is just outrageus what has been done to the "smoking minority" >:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(

I think it's deserved. Back in the day the tobacco companies used to put out advertising stating that medical reports about the dangers of smoking were false and unreliable. Even though they had evidence of their own prooving its danger. We've all been ingrained with the knowledge that smoking is bad for you. But a couple decades ago, people didn't know. They thought it was bad for you the way drinking soda is bad for you. Not that it would kill you.

What if coca-cola knew that coke caused stomach cancer, doctors told people that coke caused stomach cancer, and coca-cola put out "legitimate looking" research that there was no correlation. Then, to top it off, added ingredients to make coke *more* addictive. They did the same thing.

I'm a smoker and take responsibility for that because I should have known better. But 50 years ago, this lady wasn't armed with that knowledge.

Bad analogy.

For a lot of years, the cigarette manufacturers swore up and down that their products were completely safe, when they knew the opposite was true. I don't know about the specific case, but in general, I think Phillip Morris and the other tobacco companies can fry in hell. The day they get sued into bankruptcy, I'll stand and cheer.

People do have the right to smoke, but the companies did act in bad faith to the consumers of the world. They lied about dangers, marketed to children and encouraged the use of an addictive substance. Be thankful I'm not on a tobacco trial jury. The plaintiffs would sue for one thing, but wonder why one of the jurors was trying to find the tobacco CEOs guilty of enough murders to put them in the electric chair in addition.

Tobbacco companies are evil. They sell you shit, knowing it's shit yet they advertize it as something you can have fun with. Actually when you smoke your skin turns gray, your lungs turn black, you stink and are unhealthy. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I started smoking in high school when I was 14 and quit when I was 24. Till this day I ask myself why I smoked. I think I thought it was cool. Well guess what - IT AIN'T!!!

My dad is 72 an has smoked since he was 16. We've had this conversation over an over again. People knew even back then smoking was terribly bad for your health. They were not sheep with the wool pulled over their eyes. IT's politics period. He's said more then once he wants to sue the goverment an the military. When he was in the Army the field sargents used to scream out "Smoke um if ya got-um" an he did as told because everyone had smokes. They were give in the "meals" sea-rations 2 packs of some popular cigarette at the time, Lucky Strikes, Camel non-filter.. ect..

If you think for a minute the people 50 years ago didn't know that smoking could kill you an probably would your living in a dream world. An if they believed the advertising then they are morons.
