Luna 0 #1 October 2, 2002 Tonight at 9pm ET/PT on CBS, the premiere of the new season of The Amazing Race will feature a task that will involve the teams doing tandem jumps. Even if you aren't into these sort of "reality" game shows, I think it will be fun to watch this one. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. nws01 0 #2 October 2, 2002 Bill Von, Did you have anything to do with this one like you did for the MTV ones, etc?
billvon 3,068 #3 October 2, 2002 >Did you have anything to do with this one like you did for the MTV ones, etc? Nope! They didn't ask me, for some strange reason. Don't they know that I am to be consulted before any fun tandem demos??

hooked 0 #6 October 3, 2002 I love watching these tandems. Especially the ones that are terrified, only to see the smiles on their face afterwards! Well.....most of the time anyway! wildblue 7 #12 October 3, 2002 ok, seriously - jump, or ride behind a smelly-ass donkey for 7 miles. What is wrong with those pansies that aren't jumping?!?it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

skymama 37 #16 October 3, 2002 Haha, after she got down, the crying girl said, "that was the worst thing I've ever done in my life." But, later she admitted she was glad she conquered a fear. I'm not rooting for anyone who chose the donkey even if the cute guys do it!She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

howardwhite 6 #18 October 3, 2002 Well it looks to me as if: --It was at Tequesquitengo Mexico; (long name, short credit) --It was a Skydive Arizona Otter; --It was not all that short; at least three teams jumped; --They got out really low. I'm not sure I've seen tandem students hugging each other and crying before the jump "I don't think I can do this." But they were not exactly "volunteers." Luna 0 #19 October 3, 2002 QuoteDid you hear that one gal say, " I'm not ready to forgive you yet, but that was so f?@#ing cool!" I thought that was the best quote! And the woman who was crying so much, while she was saying that it was the worst thing she's ever done, did you see the smile on her face? Her freefall was the worst though! Those legs were flailing like crazy! Someone here noted it was a Skydive Arizona Otter, any ideas on the instructors? The DZ was in Mexico City, but most of the instructors seemed to be American. Did they bring them in? Or are there just a lot of transplants down there? I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information! Skyrose7 0 #20 October 3, 2002 i saw it too. I don't like to see people who don't want to jump (symptoms: crying uncontrollably, admitting lack of desire to jump over and over and over, uncontrollable flailing, freezing up) being pushed into jumping. Shoot, I think that can be a dangerous situation. What if they freeze up and grab something they are not supposed to? or flail so much that the tandem master can't get stable? Yikes! I still love to see skydiving on tv though, so I enjoyed it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. hooked 0 #21 October 3, 2002 Very entertaining segment! Hard to believe (well not really) how many chose not to skydive! I loved the one girls remark about how f*#@king cool it was!!!! Right on! Made me want to jump!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. mffi422 0 #22 October 3, 2002 A quick breakdown. A few guys were from Perris, a few from Coolidge and four from the Military Freefall School in Yuma
ltdiver 3 #23 October 3, 2002 Two of the tandem instructors were from Perris. Vinny Palmieri and Brett Townsley! Awesome vacation work guys! Wonder who was the lucky one who got the hysterically crying girl. She did it, though! Awesome work by her TM for keeping her flailing legs from turning them over! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
mffi422 0 #24 October 3, 2002 They did cut a lot out of his jump. Let's say she gave him some major drama!!! She beat the shit out of him. LOL
sitflyr 0 #25 October 3, 2002 Quote They did cut a lot out of his jump. Let's say she gave him some major drama!!! She beat the shit out of him. LOL Their freefall was scary to watch, with her arms and legs flailing out of control. At one point, I thought I saw them starting to go over onto their sides, then they were on their bellies again and he suddenly seemed to have her under control. Was that my imagination or fancy editing? Good job by the tandem guy, whoever he is! I thought it was funny when she said later that she had conquered her fear!
