Im not gay . i just cant color co-ordinate.. actually, it saved me 1200 when i bought it with 50 jumps on it. believe it or not gay ppl do skydive. but be careful they look just like you and me. It never crossed my mind before, I recently became hip to the fact by a pilot (non-skydiver) of the rainbow thing. He said you, "You guys looked cool up there, but which one of you are gay?" Mine does have pink though, so make of that what you will. To answer your question, as far as I can tell skydiving is a fairly gay friendly community. I've heard rumor of some quiet grumbling, but pretty much anyone who's opinionated about it keeps their mouths shut. Mostly the gay people keep quiet as well, and everyone else is open and welcoming. A minor detail: the rainbow used as a gay symbol has only six colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. 6-cell parachutes are rare. It was an RW Challenger 240 made at the time by New England Parachute Co. It was a 1000 dollar main, which was on sale for 33% off.... so I Ordered it.. couldn't decide on colors, so I went with R.O.Y.G.B.I.V...... I am as Hetero as they get... (fuggetaboutit,) At that time (1990) I still had no clue that the rainbow had begun to be a banner of sorts, for the Gay Community... Never even thought about it......til years later...but still liked jumpin' a true rainbow pattern...Oh yeah the ribs between the cells were all black... any way I flat packed that canopy on the red end cell for 700 jumps or so,,, got it relined, then flat packed it on the violet end cell for another 500 or so,,, then retired it, with much gratitude, that I NEVER had to cut it away..... Then I got a 2nd hand Spectre 210 with purple , white, and PINK!!!!!!!can Ya' believe it Pink??!! Hey maybe I'm NOT as Hetero as I thought!!!!!!!hahaha... (well at least my wife thinks I'm sufficiently Hetero !!! that's what counts...).
