freaksister 0 #1 September 29, 2002 Hey everybody, just wanted to remind you that driving REALLY is more dangerous than skydiving! I was in a pretty nasty wreck Friday, while in Bryan, TX (Skydive Aggieland). My car had to be towed away in pieces (one large, two small) and it was not my fault. Some idiot rear-ended me at god knows what speed, while I was stopped to turn left into a gas station. To make a long story shorter, I have the usual bruises, whiplash, back/neck pain, etc. I got some pain meds but they wipe me out completely, so I can't take them during the day. No skydiving and supposedly no driving, but I have to go home sometime, in this little piece of shit rental car that doesn't even have a cassette player!! GRRR. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that I get a new car out of the deal or something! Remember, as well...its a scary world out there!! Sis P.S. This doesn't count as dirty laundry, does it? Michele 1 #5 September 29, 2002 Yeah, Sis...glad to hear you're not massively injured.... Get better. Remember, the sky will wait, and you don't want some attorney saying your injuries weren't from the car accident, but from a bad landing or something. Blame it all on the car accident! Thanks for letting me crash at your place, Dave. You were so helpful too, taking me to the ER and everything. I made it home okay, but it was a very long drive. miked10270 0 #17 September 30, 2002 Hi Sis, Sorry to hear about the bump, but it does strike me that you may be to blame in some way. As a native you should know that living in Texas largely consists of making strongly indicated moves to the right! It's quite possible that "Redneck Sam" mistook your traffic manoeuvre for some political statement and decided to sort it there and then. Heal quick, Regards, Mike. AndyMan 7 #18 September 30, 2002 Sounds freaky April, I'm glad to hear you're ok! That can't have been fun. I'd be making my insurance company get me a NICE rental car... And good luck with getting a new car down the road! _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
freaksister 0 #19 September 30, 2002 I got my rental car through Enterprise. That is who my insurance company (Progressive) suggested. However, they are not paying for it 1) because I don't have rental coverage on my plan and 2) the accident wasn't my fault so the other person's insurance will reimburse me (hopefully, LOL). They were sending an adjuster to look at my car today, it is at a towing center in Bryan. I am home, five hours away. "They" means State Farm. The guy who hit me has not called them yet, which says to me he is probably scared. There was a witness who made a report to the police, etc. The police report has not been released yet, but at the scene, they told me I didn't do anything wrong. I can't see how any of it would be my fault, because I was obeying all traffic laws. Basically what happened is this: You have a four-lane road, two lanes each way. I am in the left lane on one side, completely stopped, with my left blinker on to indicate I am turning left into the gas station right there. A woman behind me (the person who made the statement/report on my behalf to the police) saw me stop and turn on my blinker, so she moved to pass me on my right, instead of stopping behind me. As she did so, a white car (the jerk's '91 Firebird) is speeding up in that lane. He cuts into the left lane to pass her but doesn't see me there and slams right into me, still accelerating. He told me that he never even saw me there. I had my foot on the brakes, so I don't know how far I would have gone otherwise, but as it stands it pushed me into the far lane of oncoming traffic, where I was almost hit again by other drivers. GRRRRRRRRR I found pieces of my cd changer and speaker box in the front passenger seat (they were in the back, behind the rear seats....if that tells you anything. Seems to me he was driving too fast and not paying attention. Although I have never sued anyone in my life, I am considering it in this case if his insurance tries to screw me over. I still owe about 8K on my car, so if they decide to total it, I think I will probably be getting the short end of the stick, because I will have to give that money to Ford credit. Plus I have emergency room bills, a rental car bill, a motel room for a night, towing, etc. My back and neck still hurt, but hopefully that will go away in the next couple of days. I am out of pain pills (they only give you about two days worth)...I am supposed to go back to the hospital if it doesn't get better by tomorrow, but that is kind of difficult since I don't live there. LOL Surely something good is going to happen soon, right? (positive thinking going on over here!!) Sis
SkymonkeyONE 4 #20 September 30, 2002 April, do you still have all your teeth? Do you still have boobs just the way we like them: one on the left and one on the right? Glad you are OK. Chuckie

PhillyKev 0 #23 September 30, 2002 Was there a double yellow line in the road? You can't cross them, even to turn. It would indicate that left turns aren't allowed there. Just thinking like the other side and how they might try to screw you.
Jessica 0 #24 September 30, 2002 QuoteYou can't cross them, even to turn. It would indicate that left turns aren't allowed there. Not true! You certainly can, at least in Texas. You just can't pass when there's a double yellow.Skydiving is for cool people only
