bbarnhouse 0 #1 September 28, 2002 Now my turn for a bit of a rant!!! There I was coming in for a lovely landing and picked up some of the funky stuff that we get here from time to time in the way of winds here in Eloy. As it was busy day Vic (camera flyer) and I decided to land in the alternate landing area where there weren't as many ummm obsticales....yeah that's it Presently the alternate area is base for 30 some paratroopers from Germany, but no worries they are always off the field before we get there....generally standing around watching the folks on smaller canopies land. Ahem.......well wouldn't ya know....funky stuff.....Vic comes in and has to "dig" himself out. I came in pretty close behind him, set my feet on the ground and .........whooooosh!! my canopy lifts up...I pull in a toggle and walk toward it........and the damn thing gets stuck in one of the Mesquite trees (they have thorns). So there I am stuck to this tree.... Vic has his own issues.....and the damn Germans just stood there and watched!!! Didn't lift a single finger to help Well humph! Next time they need help maybe I will just stand there with my hands on my hips too!!! *(*&^&)_)(_()&* Not like we all haven't helped someone out......and just the other day why....I helped them out!! Cultural difference? I don't think so! Bad Form? Absolutely!! Not a gentleman or a good samaritan in the bunch.

fasterfaller 0 #12 September 29, 2002 Damn trees I did that a few years ago in Eloy . It took close to an hour to get it off the tree . It was easier to pack after that
Deuce 1 #13 September 29, 2002 Sorry about that B-squared. Back when my wife was a travel agent we went on a Canary Island cruise, and the German tourists would get up in the middle of the night to put towels on the best deck chairs by the pool. You'd have your breakfast and mozie up, nobody up at the pool yet, sit down, get a drink, start to relax, and there's Gunter, "Fahren die chair-en" or something. "No,dude, you can't keep the chair for the whole cruise" It would start to get ugly and I'd open my mouth long enough for them to identify me as an American and I'd say I had a gun. That always freaks em out, and most Europeans have a sneaking suspicion all Americans have guns. So next time you get stuck, especially in Arizona, home of the Gunsite Academy, and one of the rare uncool euros is just watching, shout "Hey Fritz, get your ass over here or I'll f$cking shoot you!" It works most every time
