mattb 0 #1 September 18, 2002 Perhaps it is just my computer but no results have been posted since Sunday? Anybody know who won the remaining catagories? Just wondering
bbarnhouse 0 #2 September 18, 2002 This is a real SORE subject with me. Omniskore for whatever reason packed up and left after Freefly. I called SDC manifest yesterday and they didn't have results, suggesting that I check Omniskore. I graciously informed the young lady, that Omniskore was no longer on hand at her facility, and nothing was on the website. I then visited USPA........nothing. As a performer in one of the artistic event categories I am angry that our governing body hasn't even seen fit to post scores from these events. Yes agreeably we don't have as many participants...(but did have as many as Freefly) my point is these athletes deserve the same recognition as given to all other disciplines. They work equally as hard and deserve that same respect. I find it appalling that we would treat our athletes with such careless disregard.
ramon 0 #3 September 18, 2002 All they really seem to care about is Formation skydiving. I guess everything else is secondary..."Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
bbarnhouse 0 #4 September 18, 2002 Yup.....they paid their registration just like anyone else...they should get the recognition that all others did. BB
PhreeZone 20 #5 September 18, 2002 The T1 and T2 did the Nationals coverage for free (I assume)... I'm just happy they did the daily updates! It was nice having the daily scores and stories. As for the packing up and leaveing... its hard to spend your vacation time doing stuff like that for free or less then normal wages I'd imagine. Plus T1 and T2 are RW'ers so in a way I'm surprized they stayed for Freefly.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
bbarnhouse 0 #6 September 18, 2002 Phree~ They make plenty on the video tapes, but that isnt the point. I was told that they did receive compensation for their work at Nationals. That isnt the point either. I don't think I need say anything more on the subject.
kallend 2,027 #7 September 18, 2002 It's the USPA Nationals, not the Omniskore Nationals. AFAIK, Omniskore was under contract to supply the FS scoring system, and publishing the results was an extra service they provided for free. I don't recommend looking gift horses in the mouth. bbarnhouse 0 #8 September 18, 2002 I didnt get a gift.....so how can I look the horse in the mouth? AND I was directing at USPA if you read my post correctly. They had nothing posted period. quade 4 #9 September 18, 2002 Betsy, Betsy, Betsy . . . Did ya give Tim any donuts? ;^) I'm semi-serious here, bribes work wonders. (Well, actually, they've never helped -me- but they might with somebody cute like yourself -- well, with Ted anyway.) I'm almost certain that if you send them a nice email, they'll get the scores up. They -did- have quite an issue with computers when they shipped them to SDC, so they might be trying to recover from that and just get their lives and families back in order. As for the finances. I don't think that OmniSkore makes as much as some people think -- huge cash outlays in computers and software development. And I can't even imagine somebody trying to run a large competition without them. The Wagners do all of the OmniSkore coverage of the Nationals mostly as a labor of love. Yes, the OnmiSkore -judging system- is a real business, but not a very profitable one and I doubt that many people can possibly imagine the incredible hassle it would be to run the coverage. I know both Ted and Tim put in a HUGE amount of hours during the TWO WEEKS of Nationals. It places a pretty large strain on them as well as Amy, who -must- be the patron saint of patience. I'd cut these guys a LOT of slack, but amazingly and for the most part, it's not required. Please don't be sore at them if they finally have to call it a bit short and get back to their lives. Please just be a little more patient.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Not just atheltes, but competitors at Nationals for crying out loud. quade 4 #16 September 18, 2002 Ok, I just wrote to Tim and told him the natives were getting restless. As suspected, there are still a couple of issues, but I'll let him explain it as he's asked me to repost this here. Quote Omniskore will post all of the results 1) when SDC faxes them to us AND 2) the webmaster gets his computer back in working order sometime tonight (Wednesday). We apologize for the delay but this is one reason why we state clearly that we provide *UNOFFICIAL* coverage. Please give us a little more time, and rest assured we really tried very hard to give everyone out there their money's worth. So Professor......said with the politest voice I can muster......btfu. Yes you did, you got a gift from Tim and Ted Wagner of real-time posting of results for most events at no charge to you. USPA has never provided this service nor is it under any obligation to do so (read the USPA Competition Manual - nowhere does it mention posting results on the web). Omniskore's site clearly states that it is unofficial, as did the judges at the competitors' briefings. You then WHINED that some athletes had been short changed. Where I come from, that's looking a gift horse in the mouth. Maybe next year you would like to provide a free web-based results service for the freestylists, I'm sure USPA would be delighted. mattb 0 #20 September 18, 2002 Since I started this conversation I wanted to clarify something - - - I was not trying to criticize any of the individuals involved. I just thought there might be another site with results or somebody who was physically at SDC would see this and post. -matt

bbarnhouse 0 #22 September 18, 2002 Medic thanx! I was aware of MY boyz cuz they called....and Freeflight placed 2nd Fliteforce 3rd. kelland on a side note......since Ominoskore always shutsdown my puter..no I dont see it as a gift. I resourse in other ways as necessary. I admit had I read the tidbits I would have been better informed. But since thats hard to do when going to Omniskore raisies havok with my puter here in Eloy, it isnt beneficial to me. This does not negate the fact that people were wanting information. I obviously advocate for ALL competitors. It is clear that you do not. So though you are welcome to consider it whining.....I would consider it.....being considerate of ALL not just a select few. Again since it appears I must repeat myslef, this was a point for and about USPA and its responsibility to its members. You chose to see it as a direct attack on Omniskore which I stated early on was not. Just goes to show that people see only what they choose to see. I'm done with this thread. If you have further comments aimed directly at me, please have the courtesy to do so via PM.

skydiverbrian 0 #25 September 19, 2002 T1 --- don't take those negative comments to heart. I, for one, really appreciate what you did. It made me feel like I was back home. And I'm sure that plenty more folks were glad to have you keeping up with the goings-on all week.
