Tail Exit Question

Recommended Posts

When you exit the back of the plane traveling at high speed (IE 727), instead of the side. Do you still get slammed by the wind, or do you get the "sucked out" feeling.

I've never gotten a sucked out feeling from any aircraft, C130 and 727 included. On the 727 you have about 1/3 of a second of no wind, then the wind hits you like a wet rug being thrown at you.

I've only gotten that feeling with no rig on a redeye transpacific. The wind was no factor.

Hmmm, that would be fun, the "explosive depressurization" exit. Pressurize the cabin, have everyone take grips, then blow the door off so everyone gets sucked out. The survival rate might be low, but it would be a blast!
