nws01 0 #51 September 17, 2002 Quote. Some times it's not the nicotine but oral thing. Just start practicing new oral things. Give up nicotine for a lot of oral sex. Sounds like a plan to me!

wmw999 2,537 #60 September 17, 2002 Dunno what to say except I have not quit yet. I am trying though. Just keep trying. And liek someone mentioned above. If you do slip it does not meen you have to start up again. ---------------------------------------------- Actually, you HAVE quit. You're slipping up occasionally (and if they were REALLY friends they'd kick the living crap out of you on the weekends, or at least get you too drunk to smoke). But you HAVE quit. As soon as you think you haven't quit really, then it's easier to have just one, because you're trying to quit. Wait until you really notice how different smokers smell from non-smokers. Then remember you used to be a smoker... Keep it up.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
PhillyKev 0 #61 September 17, 2002 Good for you....I need to get my lazy ass to get motivated to quit. Someday soon I'll actually do it.
GiaKrembs 0 #62 September 17, 2002 Seb, HELLO~ had I known you were trying to quit I wouldn't have given you that cig over labor day... I only added to your nicotine addiction and prolonged your torture - I'm so sorry, it'll never happen again! Last time I quit I drank water i/o of having a cig - it gives you something to do, plus fills your stomach so you don't munch on food and gain a ton of weight. my 2 cents Take care, g Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it. Deuce 1 #63 September 17, 2002 I intercepted the Sebazz at the cigarette machine and encouraged him to bum until he got his willpower back. One more off a buddy is a heck of a lot less than "one more pack". Glad to hear your back at it, Sebster. Everyone I know has the hardest time when they are partying. Laughter, drink, smoke. The other time people seem vulnerable is when they are down. I had a buddy start back up after surgery, cause she just felt so shitty and smoking made her feel better. That seems weird to nonsmokers but I could tell it was true. I'll make you a deal. Every week you go without a cigarette, I'll take you on a skydive for the next five weeks. That's a block between us. And you have to come to Byron to collect. The gauntlet is thrown. The first week is short, let me know on Monday the 23rd if you made week one. You gonna do Tandems at Byron during the boogie?

Jessica 0 #65 September 17, 2002 QuoteSEB, The PATCH dude Go Get THE PATCH!!! Yes. The patch is moderately priced -- roughly equivalent to a pack-a-day habit. The patch is attractive and discreet. The patch comes in 8 erotic flavors. Wait, that's not that patch, that's something else. I love the patch. The patch rules. Get the patch. And if that doesn't work, get a mental image of a cancer-blackened lung and keep it at the ready. Also -- any progress is good progress. You're doing very well -- a couple of slipups is nothing. Skydiving is for cool people only
Thanatos340 1 #66 September 17, 2002 I tried the patch once. It was a real pain. I couldn't keep the damn things lit!!
happythoughts 0 #67 September 17, 2002 "I tried the patch once. It was a real pain. I couldn't keep the damn things lit!!" They have a new patch out for skydivers. The anti-farting patch. I hoping the patch works, because the gum sucked. You had to really lift your knees.

lummy 4 #69 September 18, 2002 Form my own experiences in quitting, there's two types of addiction with smoking, the pysical and the psychological. Most smokers have one or the other addiction. The patch works for the physical addictions, Zyban (wellbutrin, yes, an antidepressent) works for the psychological If you have medical thru your work, see if they cover smoking cessation programs, it's worth it if you really want to. Keep it up BTW, it took me 4 times before I finnally quit (cold turkey) for goodI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. AndyMan 7 #70 September 18, 2002 I haven't had a cigarette since WFFC. I'm thrilled that I even managed to get through the AOT boogie, hanging around people who were smoking. The cravings hit me very seldom, usually after I started drinking. I was surprised, this time the cravings were easily managed. Zyban - I swear by it. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. megscott73 0 #71 September 18, 2002 Well, I made it through my first day which is quite a feat for me. I really was afraid I wouldn't be able to do even one day. It hasn't really been that bad, only a few cravings that passed relatively quickly--and another one coming now--I can feel it! AARRGH! But overall, I think I can do it, and thanks to all of you for your posts in this thread. Reading all of the advice & support out there helped me too! Thanks!! :)======================= "What I want is what I've not got ,but what I need is all around me"-DMB Meghan
