PhreeZone 20 #26 September 16, 2002 The Tribune ran another articale today on this... Thats more square inches for this story then another story in the monthly/yearly/lifetime totals. Should we call CNN and notify them to this horrible tradegy? Ron's story is more local, maybe not less important then Greenes is why CNN did'nt pick it up. Greene was nationally known. The woman was of full legal age at the time of the contact and after the story was over it appears he kept the contact up long enough to have additional contact a few times. 10 years go by then she calls him twice, he gets the FBI to tell her not to call anymore then somehow an annoymous tip with the full story hits the Tribune's email mailbox.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Jessica 0 #28 September 16, 2002 QuoteOnly the Tribune has devoted more space to Ron than to Greene. Um, because it's a local story. The San Antonio Fiesta's a big honkin' front-page-splash-for-10-days-in-a-row deal down these parts, and I'll bet a buck you've never heard of it. The Dallas paper will run a traffic fatality that happened 50 miles away, but not 200. This seems very obvious to me. Can we just step back and look at this? Can anyone think of a reason the Trib would be unfairly singling out Skydive Chicago for mean-spirited, intentionally biased reporting? Maybe the managing editor went on a tandem and the video didn't turn out or something.

Jessica 0 #30 September 16, 2002 I have no idea why the Sun-Times has ignored it. But don't be so naive as to think TV and radio news has. www.nbc5.com/news/1663985/detail.html www.kdth.com/LocalNews.cfm Do a search. The Trib is hardly the only news outlet to have offered thorough coverage. Anyway, like I said, I'm not here to argue about whether the Trib's level of SDC coverage is good or bad. I just think it's silly and overly emotional to describe the staff of the Chicago Tribune as "hypocrites" because they didn't run an equivalent number of column inches about their errant columnist. This is not the first time a columnist has been fired for being a shithead. The Dallas Morning News got rid of one earlier this year. It happens all the time. The Trib's is about the standard response.Skydiving is for cool people only
