AND1 0 #1 June 10, 2013 hi all I have just received my new semi stowless d bag from upt, now I have ordered it for my javelin odyssey now my problem is im finding that im under full canopy faster than I can blink im jumping a spectre 97 and never had this problem before fitting this new d bag, now im not getting hard openings just very fast deployment is this how these d bags are
Zlew 0 #2 June 10, 2013 I have a few hundred jumps on them, on different canopies and in different rigs (Details below). I have not noticed any change in the speed of the deployment. The only thing I have noticed is that getting to "snatch" seems more smooth. You do not feel any pulse or vibrations as the lines are unstowing. From pitch, to snatch is one fluid motion (maybe that is what you are feeling?). Jav, Vector 3, Infinity containers. ksaylor1 0 #3 June 10, 2013 D-bags are staging devices (working to ensure that things happen in a particular order) and stowing lines in rubber retainer bands (or similar) is a retarding method (working to make things happen more slowly than they otherwise would). Once a d-bag becomes "semi-stowless," openings are going to be less retarded than they otherwise would be. So yes, a semi-stowless d-bag, by its nature, is going to reach line stretch more quickly than a d-bag with lots of rubber band stows. What happens after that depends on the subtleties of how you folded the canopy and got it into the d-bag. Ken
jumpwally 0 #4 June 12, 2013 I can't imagine a 97 sq ft canopy needing much time to fill up,,,its tiny,,,less time..smile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083
RandySwallows 0 #5 June 12, 2013 I have about 1,100 jumps on both of mine. I immediately noticed that from pulltime to inflation is faster (not to mention much, much smoother). gilead1 0 #7 June 18, 2013 do you duble warp the stows?
DocPop 1 #8 June 18, 2013 I do, yes. I do this to keep the bag closed as much as possible as the pilot chute accelerates it off my back. If the locking stows are too loose it allows the canopy to partly leave the bag during this phase, potentially disturbing the packjob."The ground does not care who you are. woppyvac 0 #9 June 18, 2013 Yes, semi stowless bags get to line stretch faster which starts your canopy inflation quicker. I have one and I prefer this bc it feels smoother and consistently produces more on heading openings.Woot Woot!
strife 0 #10 June 18, 2013 The UPT video says to double stow or at least enough pressure that you create 14 pounds of pressure to keep the canopy inside the bag.
