I can only speak for southern Calif. but I predict sunny skies, highs around 90, muggy in a few places....oh, you mean cuz it's the 11th? Ha
The paranoid wil continue to be paranoid, the unparanoid will continue to be UN, and the rest should stop harping on the past if they are not willing to learn from it and MOVE ON.

This really another "harping on the past" thing? I've honestly heard quite enough about 9/11. "Never Forget" right? Well after 1 year of being constantly reminded of what happened there's no way I could if I tried. Don't forget, but for the love of god there does come a time when you do have to put things behind you... and that time came a while back.

Is the subject here really a "stop being paranoid and move on" issue, or was someone just wondering if the one year anniversary would be a terrorist's goal for another attack? I think it would be. People will (and should) not worry about it, and pay more attention to the blue skies and weather... but mayhaps terrorists somewhere would see tomorrow as a good time to strike. Would make a bigger impression if it were on the same date, no?

Dude...I don't feel like looking it up in my book behind me but there are literally 15-20 differen't dates that are significant to differen't "terrorist" groups. April 19th, Sept 19, Sept 11, etc etc etc. This is just one more added to a long list.

I believe there will be small attacks somewhere somehow. I hope there not in the US and I hope small private planes are not used. Because if small planes are used you can forget private aviation as we now know it. And what scares me is how very easy it can happen.

With all due respect, it seems you didn't know anyone who was lost in the terrorist attacks. I knew 2 people. Anyone who has lost a loved one knows how painful the first anniversary can be.

As for me, my plans for tomorrow is to wake up, say a prayer for my fellow Americans, go to work, observe the 2 moments of silence and move on with my life.

Do I expect a big cataclysmic event? How would I know? 9/11/01 came as a surprise to me also.

You're right. I knew no one. I'm sure if I did the situation would be much different and I'm truly sorry for your loss. I'm sure it's much harder to let go when you personally know one who was lost... but that goes for everything... whether it be a collapsing tower or a car wreck. Those like you are an exception Chris...

Most Americans don't fit into your category. We can put the past behind and move on with greater ease.

And yes... I guess terrorists would have a vast array of dates that would be important to them. But at this moment in time I'll bet 9/11 is at the top of that list.

Most Americans, maybe...but not most people in this part of the country (NY, NJ, CT, PA). I know a couple people that were in the tower, and luckily got out. Know a couple more who didn't. And I'm in Philadelphia. There were a lot of people lost and a lot of them commuted from all around the area. Probably one third of the people I know, know someone who died there.

Very true. When the bombing occurred in Oklahoma City, it rocked me, but I knew it did not affect me to the degree it affected the Oklahomans.

However, this one is quite different as it was an attack on all Americans. Not just New York and DC. Suppose the terrorists target Jefferson City next?

Moving on is the healthy thing to do. We should not live in fear. That is exactly what the terrorists want. Also, getting hung up on dates is useless. I just think that if this country cannot just stop on the first anniversary and take a moment to remember the most heinous attack on the civillians of this country, then there is a sad complacency in this country.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it seem like I was telling people how they should feel. I do see how important location is. Though I can't share the same sort of feeling I can understand it. I'm just saying that no matter where you are, most people aren't. OK I'm done rambling now.

One less place you would have to drive through on your way from Columbia to Rolla. Hehe.

Oh gimme a break! This town is the only interesting part of that otherwise boring ass drive. You'd miss us after we're gone :)

I will spend the day celebrating my freedom to jump with my friends. I will start the day with a prayer for all those who lost someone in the attacks.
