AggieDave 6 #1 September 9, 2002 What's up with all these new users leaving thier names and their locations out of their profiles? A first name and a state or country would be a small step in the right direction, since I do understand that you may not what your info out and about on the net; although it would be nice to know if we're talking to a guy or a girl and if their in the same country/state that we're in. Ya know? Now come on yall, get in there and fix your profiles up right nice so we can include you in our family here on the net. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Deuce 1 #3 September 9, 2002 I'm with you AggieD, and the rock-n-roll ballerina too. A post comes up, I'm wondering "Whaaa....?" quick check of the profile, nothing there, I'm not responding cause it's a troller. It's an especially cool feeling having taken grips on a dozen of the folks we talk to here. I wish I could make that Vegas trip, but, as they say in Texas and elsewhere, "That dog don't hunt". It's really helpful to look at the gear folks are jumping too.

diver123 0 #7 September 9, 2002 My grams has been pretty sick, so the fam has been rallying behind her the past couple months which has subsequently cut into my posting/jumping time... sangiro 25 #11 September 9, 2002 Yes, what Dave said! Also, by making the effort and taking the time to update your forum profile with a valid email address you'll be saving my mail server from a lot of bounced emails. I receive more than 200 bounce emails per day from people who asked to be notified when a post is made to a thread but they don't have a valid email address entered for the notification to go to. Go update it!Safe swoops Sangiro
fudd 0 #12 September 9, 2002 I've had my name and all details filled out from day one...Added a picture of myself now. It's not the best pic maybe, but I usually take pics of other people. PhreeZone 20 #18 September 9, 2002 Sangiro... can you turn that option off by default? That way the only bounces will come from the people that take the time to turn that option on.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
kiltboy 0 #19 September 9, 2002 Sorry about that, I didn't mean to be rude. I filled out the first bunch of info when I signed up and didn't realise there was another page hiding in the background. David
sangiro 25 #20 September 9, 2002 QuoteSangiro... can you turn that option off by default? Phree: I've actually done this. The ones that are bouncing now are people who set this before I made the change. May go back at some stage and force all of these off so people have to reset them... Rhino: Yes, I have considered (and the scripts allow for this) to force a valid e-mail address by sending people an e-mail and having them activate their account when they receive the e-mail. I may still do this in the future but where I've applied this in the past I found that I end up with a large number of accounts that are never activated. If I do this in the future I may just purge inactive accounts after a while. There are pro's and cons... Safe swoops Sangiro

Zennie 0 #22 September 10, 2002 Maybe I'm too trusting. But I've had my full name, city & home DZ since day 1. It's nice to be able to know people by their first name. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon

Scrumpot 1 #24 September 10, 2002 Actually, I've found that on the "profile summary" (the brief one when you click on somebodies hypertexted name) MANY times location shows up as "no location entered". However, when you pull up the "FULL" profile, indeed location IS in there (I am one of them)! I can't seem to find out why that piece of data does not carry through to the "brief" profile, but it does only seem to be for just RECENT (as you point out) conscripts! Pull up my FULL profile & you will find that I am in Columbia Maryland & my home DZ is DelMarVa in Laurel, DE. However, just clicking on my name (which shows my profile summary) and it says: "NO LOCATION ENTERED". I don't know of any other way to enter my location other than in managing my profile -and indeed I HAVE put my information in there! Maybe Sangiro can further clue us in? Galen 0 #25 September 10, 2002 Anyone know how I can change my username? It says that I can do it in the user profile area but I don't see how. I thought I was just signing up for e-mail. Now that I've discovered the forums I need to come up with a funky handle. Respect the Dolphin
