tadbad 0 #1 August 26, 2002 Okay...with only 3 AFP jumps done...I need to know... Is it normal for my muscles to feel so sore from jumping? My whole body is sore!! I assume that over time my muscles will get used to this and I won't have to hobble around like an old lady. ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!! goose491 0 #4 August 26, 2002 Yeah, in this sport, you'll get used to being sore here for a while... then being sore there for a while... As far as being sore "everywhere", a lot of it can be chalked up to just being very EXCITED!!! And spending a lot of time out-of-doors! Get well soon I guess ehehe My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! tigra 0 #5 August 26, 2002 I know it doesn't SEEM that physical, but you use different muscles. It does get better if you keep going back. One day earlier this summer, I was practicing 10 way lineups and exits- my quads and gluts hurt for days after that!!! maura
hobbes4star 0 #6 August 26, 2002 200+ dives later i still get sore. but not as bad. just make sure that you stretch before you start jumping. that helps alot.if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right?
skygeek 0 #7 August 26, 2002 I second the streching it has helped me quite a bit. Welcome to the New World Order. Expect no Mercy.
Deuce 1 #8 August 26, 2002 Rental gear sucks. If I did three AFF jumps in a weekend I hurt until the next weekend. I did 12 jumps this past weekend and I feel GREAT!. tadbad 0 #9 August 26, 2002 I would have never guessed that I need to stretch before jumping. But man, I wish I would have now!! Wish I had my hot tub running...that would help ease these sore muscles. But it just sits in my back yard empty. Need to level my concrete before I can fill it. ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!! I'm sure if you take it slow during the "after beer-light activities" you won't be as sore. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle. freebird 0 #12 August 26, 2002 Im sore from having to arch REALLY hard to stay with two other jumpers since Im kinda of small.....I just arched as much as I could...could not feel it in freefall...I feel it today Very sore! Try arching for a min. on the ground ( really hard) it hurts! In freefall you can't feel it.
tadbad 0 #13 August 26, 2002 Yeah...if I arch too much on the ground I can feel my back spasm. I figured my muscles were in pretty good shape since I am a runner...but I guess not. I am actually considering not running today since I am so sore! ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!! Scoby 0 #14 August 26, 2002 QuoteI never got sore in the beginning, but now my new Sabre has been slamming me on opening and I've been sore for days afterwards... I had my first experience with a really hard opening this weekend. I don't know if it was the pack job or body position, but the canopy was open within a seconf of me tossing out the pc. I didn't have any idea just how hard a hard opening could be. I was dazed and confused for a while afterwards. Two days later, my ribs still burn when I breathe or move. I couldn't imagine dealing with this over and over...
tadbad 0 #15 August 26, 2002 On my second tandem I had a rough opening. After almost a week of having my ribcage hurt whenever I breathed, coughed, laughed or sneezed (super ouch) I finally went to the doc. Was told the ribcage joints were injured and there was some cracked cartlige. But despite it all...I started AFP shortly thereafter... ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!! jraf 0 #17 August 26, 2002 You run - you hurt, you jump - you hurt, you rock climb - you hurt, you mountain bike - you hurt so get used to it. The only way you will not hurt is if you sit in your recliner, sip a beer, munch on potatoe chips and watch all the above on TV. You will laso wind up as a 600 lb lardbucket who's wasted a lifetime in frony of the boobtube. Jump on! QuoteMy, my, my, said the spider to the fly jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. SatchFan 0 #19 August 26, 2002 I am usually sore after every weekend I jump. Sometimes it's worse than other times...depending on what I did. Recently I have started going to a chiropractor and it has helped a lot! I suggest taking a look into it. Especially if you have insurance..you get an hour massage for a $10 copay. I'll take that deal any day.
nubain1 0 #20 August 27, 2002 I did 3 aff jumps the other day and was so sore I could barely walk it hurt so bad.then went up yesterday for my level 4 and ended up w/ alti sickness and could not make myself complete the dive.I just moved to colorado 2 weeks ago and am not used to the change in alti from sea level.I was so close to sea level I could walk to the beach. bluefingers 0 #21 August 27, 2002 I know what you mean. I jump student gear (S/L) and the rigs are huge on me, almost feels as if I am going to fall out. Even if I land on my feet, I still manage to get bruised, and am stiff for days, from the neck down. But I wouldn't change it for the world!
tadbad 0 #22 August 27, 2002 Wow...$10 for an hour massage. I never thought of looking into that. Thanks!! ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!!
freeflir29 0 #23 August 27, 2002 I took a weekend off between Rantoul and going back to Skydive Atlanta. I have 262 jumps and my ass still got sore where the harness goes around my hips/legs. If you get into free flying things can get VERY physical. Half the time you don't even realize how much work it is but holding your arms out in 170 MPH wind can be a strain. Definately stretch out thoroughly before jumping. This will help a lot.
Airhead 0 #24 August 30, 2002 HEY, from NEWBIE to NEWBIE: We are gonna have some aching bods! WHAT HELPS ME is YOGA. I've been doing since the day after my first jump. About a 1/2 hour in the mornign and then again at night, too. And if after a jump my bod hurts, I do some awesome moves to stretch it out right there on the padded floor of the DZ. TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT!
tadbad 0 #25 August 30, 2002 I have been meaning to try yoga but just haven't gotten around to it....but I think I definitely need it now!! I am still sore 4 days later (but I am sure running and ultimate frisbee haven't helped me recover any). ----------------------------------------------------- When you're going to extremes...you taste adrenaline!!
