booties or no booties?

Recommended Posts

Booties will give you faster turns, and help a good bit with tracking. Thats all i am gonna say b/c i don't jump them and there are people here that know a shit load more about them than i do.

I just switched to booties about 20-25 jumps ago (76 jumps total) and they made a BIG difference! I'm still getting used to them, but the main difference I noticed is in getting into a formation is alot quicker now, turns are quicker and a bit different, and tracking is much better!
Get them on you next suit and enjoy! I'll never go back! I'mno expert - there is lots of info in here on the hows and whys of booties!

Booties are so awesome!!! However, it took a few jumps to get used to them. My first jump with them was a solo and when I exited I had a slight turn and didn't point my toes right and it was somewhat frustrating b/c I've found you can get away with sloppy body position when you're not wearing a jump suit, but with the booties any little lack of symmetry of the legs is noticiable. So be ready for a small learning period.

However, once you get used to them they are very handy. I noticed that they give me so much power with my legs that I can do almost anything with my arms and still hold position or turn or whatever (within reason). (another advantage besides the tracking speed. also turns using both arms and legs are snappier (or easier to be snappy).)

I made over 250 jumps with out booties, it was an old jump suit a friend gave me when i first started jumping. At Rantoul I finally bought a new jump suit that has booties. At first its sort of like ice skating but its a good difference and you can really tell a difference in how fast you can turn and track. Or think of a car thats a four cylinder, driving it forever then getting a V8. Big difference. But you can fly very well without booties, they just help.

Absolutely. In fact, when I was training in the tunnel, my coach recommended that I do 20 or 30 jumps without my booties. He said that it would help me focus on improving my hips/knees when doing turns. He wanted me to fly well without them. They are definitely nice though.B|

I did my pre 2nd jumps with booties last weekend. Wow what a differenceit made, turns were so much faster and the tracking was stunning, just generally much more controllable.

Glad I ordered them on my new jumpsuit that should be turning up any time.

THEN i got my comp suit from Bev. MEGA BOOTIES!!!! now those, my friends, rock. it's like having solid rudders on your feet.

i dont think booties on my freefly suit OR pants would look good i think its the same as wearing wings when you fly camera its like wearing stabilizers ive done over 300 jumps without wings or booties and i can stay with the tandems no problem and get into the belly formations no problem in my freeflyin suit just my 2 cents
