tomblin 0 #1 August 25, 2002 I had always believed Mullin's had the fastest King Air climbing to altitude (14K) in ~7 minutes, until I went to Skydive Space Center (Titusville, FL) where they claimed to have a King Air that gets to 15K in 6.5 minutes. So who has the fastest King Air & has anyone ever jumped SSC's King Air, are there claim's true?

SkydiveMonkey 0 #4 August 25, 2002 I'd do anything from a plane that goes above 10k and takes less than 1/2 hour to do it ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
kingbunky 3 #5 August 25, 2002 i'm with you, i love the 182, but there are times something bigger/faster would be nice."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

That's why you make sure you're hanging on the outside, instead of having to go thru it ;) And 182's are a blast for HnP's... It's like floating ;)I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. SkydiveMonkey 0 #7 August 25, 2002 I never bash 182's, but a nice quick turbine is nice now and again ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages

skymut 0 #11 August 25, 2002 It's frequent rides in 182's that make the turbines seem that much faster Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.

Don't you love anonymous profiles that are out to pick on a DZ they don't like and with no substance to their remarks. Funny thing is, they jump there anyway.----- ~~~Michael
quade 4 #13 August 25, 2002 QuoteI guess whatever pilot is willing to pull the nose up highest without the stall siren coming on is the "winner?" That's not quite how it works. Vx (Best Angle of Climb) and Vy (Best Rate of Climb) are different angles and climb rates right up to the aircraft's ultimate ceiling, at which point they merge. Time-to-climb is mostly a function of horsepower to weight ratio. So, it's not only thrust horsepower, but also the weight of the load being carried aloft. As skydivers, we'd obviosuly want to know if the owner was talking about a full or empty load. I'm guessing that some of these claims are a load of another kind anyway. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
klingeme 1 #14 August 26, 2002 While I do not know about Mullin's King Air, I have had the pleasure to ride in Nardie's King Air at Skydive Space Center (8 times yesterday) and it is DAMN fast. (He has done sub 6 minutes to 15,000). I don't know Mullin's times. SSC's King Air is great, but I'll take the Grand Caravan and the big door any day. rhino 0 #15 August 26, 2002 Mike Mullins flies on the wing. His son Charlie flies it a bit harder on the engines. I've gotten 14.5k with Charlie flying in 4.5 minutes with I bilieve 9 jumpers. FUN!! Rhino
