freeflir29 0 #2 August 23, 2002 Quotei have lots of vicodIn that i can take Vicodin ...No...Decongestant yes. It's really up to you but I wouldn't risk blowing an eardrum or abcessing a tooth just to jump once. Ask a Doctor...
TomAiello 26 #3 August 23, 2002 Quotei have lots of vicoden that i can take.. but i don't want to be stupid up there.. *sigh*.. . I'm not an expert on altitude, or sinus pressure, but I can say that sounds like it would suck. If it were me, I'd hold off until you can enjoy the experience. I am, however, something of an expert on Vicodin (my Neurosurgeon awarded me a lifetime supply a few years ago). Vicodin (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is a painkiller. It will do nothing to relieve your sinus pressure. In fact, deadening the pain (your body's natural warning indicator) might lead to permanent damage (in the case of head explosion or similar event). My advice: don't ever get in the habit of jumping on painkillers. It deadens the experience (quite the opposite of what most people want to do), as well as impairing your judgment and reaction time in the event of an emergency. Dude, stay home (or go to the DZ), grab a twelve pack, down a couple vicodin, and party instead.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
AggieDave 6 #4 August 23, 2002 After spending a bit more then a week hopped off my ass on Vicodin this summer due to a knee injury, I couldn't understand why someone would want to jump while on that stuff. Jumping would suck, I was in such a sureal environment that I don't know what would have happened. Shit, I couldn't even drive right, I had to have a friend drive me to the Doc. Be careful if you take a sinus med, they'll fuck with you when you add altitude, trust me, I did that one day so I could jump. Did one jump and quit for the day, it freaked me out. Jumping with sinus pressure can and has before blown ear drums. A *very* painful experience that is not worth it. If you're not feeling better, I'd recommend postponing the jump until next week or later if you have to. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." hobbes4star 0 #5 August 23, 2002 i would not jump with a sinus problem you run a very high risk of blowing out your ear drum. i have jumped with a sinus congestions before and it is about the most painful experiances.if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right? billvon 3,049 #6 August 23, 2002 >The past couple days i've had terriable sinus headache's . . . Do not jump with sinus problems. Several of us have learned this the hard way. If it's bad enough to cause you pain on the ground, you'll be in agony in the air - and you might just blow out something important.

Scoby 0 #8 August 23, 2002 QuoteDude, stay home (or go to the DZ), grab a twelve pack, down a couple vicodin, and party instead. Nobody really should be drinking and taking vicodin at the same time. He wouldn't be in much immediate danger (and the buzz is pretty nice), but acetaminphen and alcohol is an acutely hepatoxic combination. In combination with alcohol, as little as 4 grams of the stuff (8 vicodin) can kill you, much less can cause liver damage.
mandr4ke 0 #9 August 23, 2002 Ahh Thanks everyone for the advice.. Now i'm depressed.. hehe i think i'll try some home remedy's or something and see if this will get me back to normal.. i guess if i have to.. i think it was a $50 deposit i'd lose... =( pray for me! hehe
AggieDave 6 #10 August 23, 2002 No, you shouldn't have to loose the deposit, just call the DZ and explain the situation. 99% of the DZs out there will be understanding and will just reschedule you.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Spy38W 0 #12 August 23, 2002 QuoteIt just killed me to cancle it to.. hehe.. dam dam dam.. Yeah, but it could have killed you (or at least hurt you badly) not to reschedule it. You'll enjoy it more without the immense pain and suffering you would have with a sinus issue. (Trust me) -- Hook high, flare on time
