Sick_Nasty 0 #1 July 9, 2013 It is almost time to start purchasing gear and I was curious about helmets. I've been looking at all the different types and can't decide. What are the benefits of a full face helmet compared to an open one? Also would it be weird for a new skydiver to jump with a camera helmet without a camera attached? (Will eventually start filming jumps.)

Tetrahedron 13 #3 July 9, 2013 Stick to a basic helmet until you get at least a hundred jumps under your belt. I started with a Protec and it worked great. By the time you're ready to jump a camera, there will be way better helmets available. Patience is the best lesson to learn in this dangerous and expensive sport. grue 1 #4 July 9, 2013 Tetrahedron I started with a Protec and it worked great. My ninth sky birthday is in 2 weeks, and I'm still jumping one. Also worth noting: I'm a total cheapass cavete terrae.

Tetrahedron 13 #7 July 10, 2013 GooniesKidLol Tetra! I was totally referring to that post! You should link that thread...well played bro. Actually, I have to agree with your thoughts on the Cookie Fuel. I was concidering buying a G3, but I couldn't bring myself to pay $400 for a plastic helmet. No matter how cool it looks. All Cookie helmets seem to be way overpriced.

wildcard451 0 #11 July 10, 2013 11 years and I still jump a protec for most jumps. I have a G2 that I like for freefall jumps and tunnel work. Considering a POC Sweden helmet for swooping/crash protection.
