jumptandem 0 #26 August 21, 2002 To late... He came out Tuesday (to the correct DZ this time) and bought an entire "A" license package.
fusedog 0 #27 August 22, 2002 rev jim, i believe that being a USPA group member DZ is an EXCELLENT start to a safe operation... especially when "the other" DZ in question brags that they ARE NOT affiliated with USPA...and, more importantly, they choose to blatantly violate the guidelines set forth in the BSRs...time and again, on a daily basis...as a matter of routine...to the detriment of not only those who frequent the place, but also the students who -- well...frankly, are students... i submit to you, even if neither, or both of the DZs referred to were group member DZs, (i expect) you'd see the difference between the two--and frequent the one that, in this case--just happens to be a group member... peace dog peace duey i know a little 'bout it... PhreeZone 20 #28 August 22, 2002 Grrr... must not... get into GM debate... I know of plenty of non GM's that are safe.. and I know of a few GM's that are not safe... being a GM does not increase the safety of a DZ. The DZO/management/jumpers are the people that can control that. Example... I know of a GM that drops jumpers into clouds in violation of FAR's and BSR's. I also know of a non GM that follows every BSR... but just does'nt want in the politics. Which DZ is safer?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

freeflir29 0 #30 August 22, 2002 I guess Skydive Greene County isn't a GM. However, after hanging out with all the people from there it sounds like the management is down right ANAL RETENTIVE when it comes to safety and ratings courses. I haven't been there but thats my impression after hearing a lot about it.
fusedog 0 #31 August 22, 2002 ----------- EGG-ZACKLY!!! THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE "Grr...GM debate" - and that must be clear... as I forsaw a MERE GM DEBATE coming from rev jim's (dare i say) left-wing reply...no offense, Jim... the nebulous, albeit political high ground (be ye left-wing or right-wing) where real issues are often LOST... and what WAS LOST -- THIS FACT: This IS (and unfortunately REMAINS) about SPECIFIC numerous and repeated actions, about a SPECIFIC (poor) attitude toward MY SPORT... it IS about a SPECIFIC individual, a SPECIFIC operation, a SPECIFIC and BLATANT DISREGARD FOR SAFETY...which has gone unchecked for longer than i care to acknowledge... it IS about SPECIFIC (incredibly obvious and verifiable) under-handed business practice(s)... now...IT ISN'T LOST...eh?!! peace dog P.S., - the fires have been little or no factor for us this year...and, the VIEWS remain spectacular...blooos... peace duey i know a little 'bout it... skycat 0 #39 August 22, 2002 Well I hate to say this about a DZ but I will back up Duey on this. (Yes I know who he is) That place is breaking BSRs(which it doesn't have to obey anyway) FARs and I'm sure a few other acronyms I'm not sure about. But hey, what can we as skydivers do.....Contact the USPA....ummm...they will tell you there is nothing they can do....call the FAA, they won't do anything either.....been there done that. So word of mouth is the only way to protect other jumpers from potentially dangerous places. Trust me if anyone of you walked on to that DZ you would do just like Derek and I and walk away. Ok so you would be walking away giggling....but you would still be walking away.Fly it like you stole it!
fusedog 0 #40 August 23, 2002 thanx kelli... giggling only momentarily, though - followed by resolute incredulity, characterized by a shaking of the head... peace duey i know a little 'bout it...
