I broke my right ankle when I was a student. They gave me a canopy that was way too fast and small for me. It was completely broken, twisted upside down. I was in the hospital for three days and spent a month in bed. I went to physical therepy for about a year. It still hurts and will probly give me a lot of trouble when I get old... (as if I'm not old already) LOL. I had 10 screws and two plates removed about a year and half later. :)

The interesting thing is that you came back to the sport. I wonder how many low-timers who get hurt hang'em up for good? There was a fellow at my DZ this last weekend working on one of his AFF levels and he had a mishap which was rumoured to have broken his ankle as well. But after talking to his AFF instructor, it seems that he had broken the same ankle in the past as the instructor said it wasn't that bad of a landing. :S

Broke my left Femur, compressed vertebrae L 5 and partially tore a ligament in left knee on jump # 198.
I now have a rod in my left leg with 4 screws, 2 in top 2 in bottom. Nothing quite like having a leg and back injury at same time as lots of you know.

I dropped a toggle as I began to flare. Dropped other toggle and reached for rear riser to flare, as soon as my hands hit rear riser my feet hit the ground and I bounced and rolled up into a pile on the ground.
This happened on Feb 2nd. jumped this sunday august 18th. Went back to my larger tri 190

From skydiving? A torn MCL with some ACL damage, no surgery though. Still can't run more then about a mile and a half at a time, though...:(

Atleast I didn't stop jumping, was out the next weekend WITH the Doc's permission (he also works on the Aggie football team, so he's probably pretty understanding in that respect).

Hey... Chicks dig scars, glory is forever....

Yep!;)
The "worst" thing I've attained skydiving is insanity, according to some...I think it was a previously diagnosed condition!:D
Ummmm a sprained knee from an unintentional down-winder into the runway on a 20+knot day whilst the plane was on approach!
Another skydiver seriously contributed to my lack of outs (CRW against my wishes to under 1500/1000ft) and my fear of doing a low turn with the speed of my new canopy (and my 7 jumps on it) didn't help!:$
After that, chipped tooth and embedded spinifex grass in back!B|
Tandem demo. Too windy to land at site. Landed extremely hard (tooth), no catchers so was dragged 50+metres(spinifex). I know the distance was at least that as I dropped the drogue release when we landed in an attempt to wrench on a(ny) toggle.
On the upside some awesome whuffos, who'd done a tandem on a windy day at my DZ, came to our rescue. We'd twisted a few times between us and so couldn't reach the cutaway handle, thank goodness for the whuffos.....otherwise....[:/]
To give you an idea, I had to turn over 7 times before we could undo the top clips (undid the bottom ones under canopy).

Shattered and compressed left tibial plateau on Jan. 28th of this year. 12 weeks completely non-weight bearing. That sucked the big one!

Freefall collision last year - 2 broken ribs, bruised lung, nerve damage in arm, almost bit my tongue off (hanging by bottom skin), and trauma to stomach, diaphragm and intestines. Still - not as bad as the broken leg!

Yes, road rash does heal nicely - my scars are hardly visible two years after the fact. I too landed on an asphalt runway without flaring - it is a long story and old timers on here will remember it. AggieDave was there, I don't remember what he said about it though. That seems like ages ago. Sigh. It was on my tenth jump, right after I saw a guy make a low turn and nearly die. Yikes!

My worst injury was a couple of little cuts on my hands from learning to pack. I remember standing in a circle at the DZ one evening after the jumping had ended. I was the only person that didn't walk with a limp or wear some kind of leg brace. I plan to do my best to keep it that way.

Yup, I was there, that was a bad day for everyone there, with what happened to Travis. I don't think I said anything except "are you ok?" after Dennis had finished ranting and you had settled down some and weren't bleeding as badly.
