indyz 1 #52 August 3, 2002 QuoteQuoteQuoteOk so how is the boot camp in the Airforce and Navy? Now that I think about it, join the Navy, do a couple of WestPacs/Med cuises, go to exotic places and get Laid! i was wondering when someone was going to say that! The problem with that is that you have to come up here to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. I have some friends who are Navy kids, so I've spent time on base, including the roof of the hospital at night (fun). It isn't exactly the nicest place in the world. On the plus side, if my high school is an accurate indicator, then you won't have any trouble picking up high school chicks at the mall or the amusement park. BikerBabe 0 #53 August 3, 2002 I'm at Kirtland. This is my hardest assignment yet, since I'm not near a DZ with anything larger than a Cessna! LOL...see...they spoil you in the AF! Actually, my home DZ here does have the nicest people in skydiving, as far as I'm concerned...Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! diver123 0 #54 August 4, 2002 You'll definitely be ahead of the power curve in age, but by no means an old fart... Can you deal with a 19 year old corporal telling you what to do if you have to??? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

Actually, my home DZ here does have the nicest people in skydiving, as far as I'm concerned... I live right between my home dz, which is an all cessna dz, and a larger dz with an otter, caravan etc. I have a theory that dzs with small planes tend to be a bit friendlier because if you plan on doing any type of formation, you will probably need everyone who is on the plane to do it. Basically, if you are jumping an Otter, Caravan etc (larger dz, lots of turn around), you have the liberty to pick the group you want, organize everyone (to get on the same load that is), and then jump together. Small dzs, it's usually, whoever manifests first goes - so, you make a group out of whoever is on the load. You really can't be too 'click-ish' at a cessna dz, and I've enjoyed that. At least, that's been my experience. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.
Canuck278 0 #58 August 6, 2002 22 is not too old.....hell 30 isn't even to old....well..........anyway...I was 22 when i joined the NAVY up here in Canada. Best thing i ever did. It's not for everyone but if you like it will be the most rewarding time of your life. I don't know about the states but i just found out that the military up here will pay 75% of my costs for skydiving. I'm so excited i think i am going to go jump out of a plane....
