indyz 1 #3 August 4, 2002 0:2:1.25 First jump on my rig. The Spectre flies nice, but I had two out landings, both of which ended in a crash. The first one was down hill, loooong surf, slide, crash. The second was uphill, WHAM!, tore the knees out of the jumpsuit that I was renting. This was just after I ordered a jumpsuit and didn't get reinforced knees, because, "I don't biff my landings very much." Both times I couldn't tell that the ground was sloping until I was less than 50 feet off of the ground. I think it might have something to do with my prescription goggles being slightly different than my glasses, messing up my depth perception. The .25 is for the time I sent Benny to buy a case for my A license, he came back with an 18-pack, so I still owe a six-pack for that. I had a car accident on the way home from the DZ, not my fault, but the other guy (drunk pedestrian who hopped the median on a 55 mph highway and ran in front of me) isn't doing so good. bbarnhouse 0 #4 August 4, 2002 Ohhh Brian glad to hear that you are ok! Sounds like an odd week-end for you all the way around. Hope that the pedestrian recovers soon. Cheers!

moodyskydiver 0 #7 August 4, 2002 2:2:1 2 student-learning tandems made in which I turned, pulled and worked on canopy techniques.2 very good ratings I recieved from my very cool JM for both jumps...whiched cleard me for my transition to a shorter AFF style program through the Integrated Student Program I'm doing.1 sore ankle from a no-wind landing that was a bit fast. But its all cool...just another part of the game! All in all...a very good weekend!!!! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
Lindsey 0 #8 August 4, 2002 about 50 (number of bean plants I swooped on my mile-and-a-half-off-dz landing): 1: 0 Had a friend visit this weekend who's having relationship problems, so we hung out watching movies yesterday and drinking beer. My child went to the lake with his little buddy today, and we went for a mid-afternoon jump.....ended up walking through a BUNCH (about 100 yards) of beans, across a snake-infested creek that required that I climb down a 6 foot vertical drop), and along the levee of a huge irrigation ditch before making it to a road, where a farmer's wife graciously provided a lift back to the dz. This in 98 degree temps with NO WIND! Now I know by many people's standards, a 110 sq ft canopy is not small, but for me, today, I was so glad I had it. I felt bad for the guy on the load that had to haul the Raven 4 on his long trek.....woulda sucked! But the bean swoop was kinda cool. My relationship-dogged buddy spotted the load, and paid for my jump so it worked out fine... ==8-0 Lindsey-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. moodyskydiver 0 #10 August 5, 2002 Thanks Betsy! I wish I could go to the Elsinore boogie, but I have college classes that I cant miss But things are coming along quite nicely,I think. Start ground school next weekend and my abbreviated AFF( I think I start at like level 4 or something since I did the other level objectives in my learning tandems). Now I'm going to start buying bits and peices of gear...goggles,logbook,altimeter etc. Hopefully I'll have my own rig by spring break or summer of next yr. "...just an earthbound misfit, I." nws01 0 #15 August 5, 2002 0:5:0 Went out with my girl on Friday night. Nice dinner. Went to bed early and jumped all day. This place is really a tandem factory. Had a nice solo head down, two two way sit flys, jumped an rw dive with someone just off student status and we did a 10 way track dive. Watched a friend have her first cutaway due to a bag lock. The bag and freebag landed in some heavy woods and it is all gone. Came back Saturday night and worked all night. Finally got to get some sleep around 10:00am this morning. I am drained. Snowbird 0 #20 August 5, 2002 at least 600:2:1 # of times I pet, touched, and stroked my new-to-me gear. Beer owed for first time packing and then jumping my own pack job. Talk about nerve racking. BikerBabe 0 #21 August 5, 2002 1:3:0 The beer is for my first non-Air Force Academy team demo. 2 other jumps were 4-way...fun because we were finally able to get a notorious floater to go low! We had to strap 10 lbs of weight and the tightest suit we could find on him, but it was worth it. Seriously, this guy's avg. speed on his belly was 108 mph, until today. I'm incredibly lucky to have been jumping with someone clearheaded enough to follow my main down and recover it for me. Thanks, Curt!
