USPA License Changes?

Recommended Posts

While they're about it, I hope they do something to remedy the co-mingling of the current "licenses" with merit awards.

Licenses grant permission to do something. Licensing requirements in almost all cases except skydiving are closely related to the permissions granted.

Merit awards, on the other hand, are for achievements.

my problem is not letting anyone know ahead of time. We are the USPA right, why didn't anyone say anything. I had chated about it and posted it here before. This is one reason we need a monthly or bi monthly on line chat with BOD and others. This affects everyone, why were we not better informed?

I'm not saying it was a bad move. I feel a better move would have been a E licence.

It has been proposed to the BoD that they issue something like a Notice of Proposed Rule Making and allow for a period of comment similar to the way the FAA operates.

However, since this rule really doesn't take effect for another 14 months . . . it's not really going to be of any great surprise to or really affect the way anyone currently in the sport does things anyway. 14 months does seem like a pretty reasonable amount of time to get used to this idea, to me at least.

BTW, people have been talking about this for years, so all anyone really had to do was look at what the IPC was doing and it shouldn't have been a very big surprise anyway.

Easy.

USPA has control over the license issues and the FAA has TOTAL and COMPLETE control over the repack cycle.

Sure the USPA and PIA seem to be lobbying on different sides of this, but in fact it's the FAA that makes THAT rule.

I'm sorry but this is a big change, I don't care if it wasn't coming for 3 years the rank and file was not informed. And that means that we were not able to comment.

talking and voting on it is a lot different. They did us a disservice by not allowing our input.

Maybe that's your opinion, but it doesn't matter to me at all.

In picking my battles, this would be VERY low on my list of things to get pissed about.

I was out on a jump with a friend of mine today and she had her first reserve ride jump #106.
I watched her as she cutaway her main, her reserve inflated, and flew her reserve back to the landing area. As for me.......I landed in a farmer's field way out to hell and gone...with her main and d-bag reaching the ground after me not 10 feet away;) Folks were out to pick me up before the DZ van even knew I had gone a missing.....good to have friends eh? Oh and the reserve ride..no injuries just alot of tears and a final "OMG I did it" I was happy for her.......her reserve was due next week anyway....bwahhhhhhhhh BEER
