Right now I'm working right next to a meduim sized airport and have to sit here watching planes and copters take off all damn day and can't think of much else ather than grabbing my rig and hitchin' a one way ride to altitude! pilotdave 0 #3 August 2, 2002 I work at a helicopter company. No, I don't get to fly at all. Two summers ago I worked at a company across the street from an international airport. Great view. I dunno how I got work done. Here I sit next to a window but the blinds are always closed. Never know whats going on outside. I'm a few miles from the main plant, so there are no actual helicopters here to look at. Just lots and lots of pictures, all of the same one. Interesting stuff though. Yesterday I read the proposals from subcontractors to build the pilots seats. Who knew they could be so complicated? Dave
Sebazz1 2 #4 August 2, 2002 Actually I wish I could watch or hear airplanes taking off all day. I am with you on the work sucking thing but yeah we gotta do it if we gonna pay the bills. I am in a Law office in Palo Alto (aka ~ Shallow Alto) There is a medium sized window over my left shoulder looking into a nice little courtyard with trees and stuff It is really really foggy today. Usually it is burned off by now Northern California in the summer I guess Look on the bright side ~ IT'S FRIDAY!!
goose491 0 #5 August 2, 2002 I work on the 8th floor at my bulding and my window is parallel the final approach of a very busy, med-sized airport. Some times I think this rocks 'cause when the planes takeoff and land, they buzzzz right past the building. Other times it depresses me 'cause I'd rather be flying them and/or jumping out of 'em My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
skymut 0 #6 August 2, 2002 I live and work in a pretty small town, with a good sized muni ap, but not a lot of traffic coming in and out - at least not during the week. It's bad enough being stuck at work, looking at the beautiful blue sky and tall, fluffy clouds - having to watch planes come and go would really make for bummer of a day. Oh well, at least it's Friday. Maybe I can dig through the couch cushions tonight and find enough loose change for a jump or two. BikerBabe 0 #7 August 2, 2002 LOL...I think Eric just described my office...are you down the hall from me, by any chance? The AF base shares the runway with the "international" airport here, so not only do I see airliners and GA aircraft coming and going all day, I also see F-16's, C-130's and choppers... But it's cloudy today, so it's a small consolation.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
JohnJug 0 #8 August 2, 2002 I actually work in an office building right next to MCAS Mirimar, in San Diego. All day we have fighter jets and big ass copters flying over us. It's torture. Then I get to go home, which is right under the departure path from one of our municipal airports, so I have small aircraft flying over my house all afternoon. It's driving me crazy. I really need to scrape some money together and get back in the air. You come from nothing. You go back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!
