pilotdave 0 #2 July 30, 2002 My brother double majored in math and computer science, then went to law school. He's making gobs and gobs of money now. Good choice. Dave
TomAiello 26 #3 July 30, 2002 Ready for the lawyer jokes to start? Here's mine: Q: What's the only good thing about a law student? A: He's not a lawyer yet. Just kidding. Good luck on the career choice. It's a ton of work, but the money is pretty good.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
moodyskydiver 0 #4 July 30, 2002 Lame lawyer joke: What do you call a skydiving lawyer? (skeet) Target Practice Ok, ok I know that was lame. I'm a Criminal Justice (corrections) major. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
scottbre 0 #5 July 30, 2002 You know why there are so many lawyer jokes? Because law school is a joke. Trust me on this one, I know first hand. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

jfields 0 #9 July 30, 2002 QuoteSince when did laws become logical? Never. But it takes good logic and reasoning skills to twist them and distort them to fit your goals. I work at a law firm, as the IT guru. I think I have a better deal going than the lawyers. Like they have time to postwhore on DZ.com...

bravoniner 0 #11 July 30, 2002 Lessee ... if I'm figuring right, that means you won't be doing a whole lot of jumping for -- say -- the next six or seven years (student, summer clerk, grunt associate). Hmmmm! Been there ... done that ... Bravo-niner
PhillyKev 0 #12 July 30, 2002 Thank god! There's such a shortage of lawyers these days, could always use another one. Did you all remember to hug a lawyer today? j/k....good luck
DTOXX 0 #14 July 30, 2002 LOL I hug a laywer every day... (my wife is a lawyer) Hey Adam, you can kiss just about EVERYTHING you do for fun goodbye for the next 3 years. I remember when my wife was in school. The only thing I saw of her was the top of her head, (oh behave you guys..., poking out of the top of some thick book) You read A FRIK'ING TON of case law and must be prepared to brief each one. Good luck man. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
A12 0 #15 July 31, 2002 Yah, I figure it'll be hell for a while, but at least its in the direction of what I want to do. Right now I am finishing up a BA in CS (hehe) and I don't want to do that anymore...so its going to be a long year. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! bbarnhouse 0 #16 July 31, 2002 Well, well, well......My momma told me........... I started out wanting to be a lawyer (JD) but guess what? My momma told me that there is not such thing as justice.......the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, prison, babies or all three. Wow was she cynical or what? I decided to work with "Flipper" instead. Hope that you have a good pair of reading glasses and a sturdy backbone. Best wishes.
howardwhite 6 #17 July 31, 2002 I talked to a lawyer/jumper today. She said that with your techie background, you should make zillions in intellectual property law -- after you survive law school. HW
sumadoggie 0 #18 July 31, 2002 Ex-IP Attorney here. Did it for three years in a very old school, high powered, wood-paneled law firm. Bottom line. The work is dry. You better like the other attorneys you work with otherwise your life will suck. Pursuit of the work itself will not make up for working with a bunch of back biting assholes. Suggestion - try to get into the litigation side of things. You'll work wieder hours but it will be a helluva lot more interesting. Just a little insight from a dude who has been there. I'm feeling better now, thank you very much.
A12 0 #19 July 31, 2002 Hehe, Zillions...is that a year? I'm planning on working my ass off, and I am sure it will take a little time for me to find my place...but thats life. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger
