hobbes4star 0 #1 July 9, 2002 i was wondering. does anyone plan how many jumps they want to do in a year. Or does anyone set goals for the year. example this year i wanted to do 300 dives. to reach that goal i only have to do 4.44 dives for the next 25 weekends. to say the least i will pass that goal. so does anyone else do this?if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right? TEB6363 0 #2 July 9, 2002 Yes, I used to target about 200 per year. With a new family I only got about 100 per year for a while. Now I am at about 350 per year (last 12 months, not Jan-Dec) and want 500. I will be very happy with 400 though. Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!! diverds 0 #3 July 9, 2002 I don't really shoot for a goal but I always look back at the end of the year to see how many I did. The last few years I have avaraged around 250-300. Skydive Radio

billvon 2,991 #5 July 9, 2002 >Or does anyone set goals for the year. Usually not, unless I want to specifically get ready for something. In my case I'm doing the 300 way this winter, so I have a goal of at least 200 jumps this summer/fall, mainly to stay current and get a bit more big way experience. (It will also put my 3000th jump in the middle of the 300 ways which would be cool.)

PhreeZone 20 #10 July 9, 2002 I say I want to have X jumps by the end of the year... But more important the njump numbers I say I want to have done this or learn this skill this year. Like this year was to be my Head down year, but instead its my camera flying year. Year 1 I did 1 jump.. that was it... wanted no more... I did it and could brag about it Year 2 I did 46 more.. Goal was to have 50 total... I had 47 Year 3 I did 209... Goal was to have 250 total, I had 256. If I did'nt have to deal with Winter and not jummping much for 5 months I would do a higher amount a year as a goal. This year I'm wanting to be at 500 at year end.. Only 125 to go to get to that one. With WFFC and a few trips to TX planned.... I think that I can do it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skybytch 273 #11 July 9, 2002 QuoteUsually not, unless I want to specifically get ready for something. Same here. I set a goal of at least 200 jumps this year so I could get my slot on JFTC and stay current enough to not get benched while it's happening. If weather and finances cooperate I'll be doing my 1000th during the women's world record attempts. Finally!
diverds 0 #12 July 9, 2002 You know what sux about hitting 1000? On the next jump you have to log 1000.....and 1. Suddenly the mountain seems really tall again. Skydive Radio
skymama 37 #13 July 9, 2002 I'm going to print this thread and give it to my mom. She complained how I was "always" at the dz (usually 2 weekends a month or less). I told her I wasn't there that much, and only got in 100 jumps last year. She thought that was a whole bunch! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Dumpster 0 #15 July 10, 2002 I haven't set any goal as to # of jumps, but other goals- Next goal is my B license and I think that if I work a little I may even get my C before the new year- (I'll jump all winter as long as there is altitude and the winds are calm-) By the end of next season I will have my D and perhaps even my Coach rating- And so it goes for goal- setting. Oh, and I'd like to snealk past jump # 100 without getting pied, just to see if I can- C-Ya! -Lenny Easy Does It
Stacy 0 #16 July 10, 2002 only been jumping for 2 years but i'm averaging 250-300 each year. adds up fast!!!
Jessica 0 #17 July 10, 2002 QuoteWith WFFC and a few trips to TX planned.... I foolishly told Phree I'd have 350 jumps by the end of next summer. That's Sept. 21, 2003. I'll need to average around 5 jumps a week to make it feasible. Let's hope I keep having Saturdays off. Sigh.Skydiving is for cool people only
Jimbo 0 #18 July 10, 2002 I wanted to get about 200 jumps this year. Things are going well, I've managed to get in about 130 so far and that's a pretty laid back pace too. If I pick it up, and I will once the cooler weather rolls in, I should make about 250. I wish it wasn't so damn expensive. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
