holy cow! :o

did he see the bird hit? from the 4th picture, i probably wouldn't have noticed if i was him. then again, my car is a piece of crap so the bird would have probably gone right thru my radiator and into the engine block. o well...

Viking.....that is just a regular sized bird. Probably about a foot wingtip to wingtip (spread out). If he got a hawk or falcon caught in the radiator like that, I would wonder how fast he drives to get it to squeeze through those holes. Ouch! :o

Billo.....he saw the bird and saw it try to fly out of the way, however he didn't see it anywhere when he looked behind him. So, when he got to my house, he got out and checked it out. There it was. Ooops!

It is actually still in there. :)

I think he's leaving it in there until A) it starts cooking itself on the radiator, B) it falls out itself, or C) it loses its "cool" appeal (sort of like the horns on the big Caddy. :)

I'll be sure to get photos of the removal, which will probably resemble a disection of some type.

Perhaps if that bird broatcast its position in the sky over the FM radio waves, my bro could have heard him and avoided it.

Although, my brother could have not been checking that channel and totally missed the call altogether.

However, I think the bird was in restricted airspace. Anywhere 15' or below over a road should be considered "no-no" for our feathery friends (who don't need rigs or planes to fly).

Yes, I'm tired. I'm off to bed. :)

it would appear that th fowl made his "last bad decision" or maybe he "just lost his head" and flew into the truck, he "zigged" when he should have "zagged" either way, he's "went in" :S

Worked many a bird strike on B-52's and KC-135's. The B-52's were the worst. The wing area is huge in near the wing root. Once there was a hole so big that we could fit one of the small guys through it. I think that was an Osprey. Damn did that smell!!! I also had one that came through the radome, secret boxes, and firewall that ended up splattering on the right seaters feet inside the cock pit. They must have been hauling some ass!!!

I was stationed at Elmendorf, AFB when an E-3 Sentry (AWACS) plane went in immediately after take off. The crash was blamed on multiple bird hits on the two right engines, if I remember correctly. I think they said there was around 36 birds that were hit. The whole story sounded fishy to me. It was a horrific site. I was standing on the flight line and saw the whole thing happen. From the distance I couldn't see well enough to see birds though. It was a very sad day to say the least...

Danm...I knew one of the Scope dopes that was on that airplane. I noticed when I was up there in 2000 that they have quite an agressive program to keep the birds away now. I guess they ingested so many birds that it flamed out the engines. Bad Juju on take off in an E-3. Not like those things had much power to spare anyway.

The really bad part is this: before that accident those birds were treated like the most endangered species.

I was threatened with an article 15 because of running over one on my way to work. People would literally stop in the middle of the road to let them cross. There would be hundreds of them around the flight line. Besides, they stink !!!
