Is your DZ slow ?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering your DZs seemed to be pretty slow this year regarding fun jumpers?

Mine has been quite slow this year, compared to last summer when we usually turned a King Air all day Saturday and Sunday. This year though we're lucky if we get 10 loads a day. I heard a lot of people seem to be getting out of the sport.>:(

Just a thought....

It could be like everything else - a slow-ass economy. I am new this year, but I have talked to other upjumpers and they say that the same people are coming out, but not as regularly. They are just coming out to stay current. I am sure if things were better financially, then more peeps would be jumping more regularly.

Then there is me... I am unemployed, and I still put in 4-5 jumps a weekend. B|:P

I was just thinking that today. It's the most beautiful Sunday afternoon I've seen in a long time, and I'm chasing statics out at 3500 cause there aren't enough people to fill a high load. WTF is up with that?!?!?!
I got nuthin

My DZ is growing and getting better every weekend (knock on wood), but then again, we're a new DZ, so our fun jumper base is growing...we don't really apply in this situation, I guess.

Not here at Orange. They did 25 loads on Friday! And when I left on Sunday at 5pm they were on load 21. Can't remember how many they did on Saturday. But I know I was manifesting ahead of time just to make sure I could get on a load. Come to Orange - you'll love the quick ride to altitude in Super Mr. Fabulous!

maybe people are just bored from jumping. you know how mundane it gets!
constantly packing, dirt diving and talking about the last jump, then hanging out after hours to chat over a few beers with the ppl you jumped with. that is sooo boring........................NOT!!!!B|

We seem to be a bit slow all around- wx this spring wasn't the most cooperative, and I think the economy has something to do with it too- Other rumours are competition from area DZ's and propaganda like that, although it seems to me we get along very nicely with the other DZ's in our area-

My DZ has been slower this summer than it was last. From everything I've seen it's the fact that a lot of the "every weekend" up jumpers from last summer aren't jumping. Some have moved. We picked up a new one here and there but there has been a general decline. The tandem business seems to be steady it's just the up jumpers that are missing.

As a skydiver who was at the dz every weekend and even skipped out on work some weekedays to jump I am jumping at a slower rate this year, unfortunately. This is due to moving, the weather, damn Canadian fires and my new challenge of not being able to go through a reserve repack cycle and then having to wait for a new freebag to come in. Hopefully this coming weekend will change this and I will be a happy jumper again!
