Soft link design

I've been making soft links for years and have tried all kinds of different designs and styles. I got some new risers and was going to knock out a set when I got to thinking that every set I've made has been a little different and that I could use a standard procedure to do this. I can do tabs or rings.

Does anyone have a really good design (with accompanying instructions ) that they have been using?

I started with Jerry's instructions, then I made a jig.
The jig is merely an old wooden board (maybe 2 feet long). I drove 2 nails into the board a precise distance apart. Then I wrote on the board:
"1,000 pound Spectra suspension line."
"Cut twice this long."
"Loop over nails."
"Finished length = the distance between the nails."

That's pretty clever! I made a set using his instructions and they came out great. Are your nails 8" apart?
