SkymonkeyONE 4 #28 June 19, 2002 UPDATE: the message I got was actually from Bernice. Go to the WFFC website and see if it has the pricing. Seems like it was like $250 for the entire time, but I may be way off base. ChuckAre you a Monkey or a Flunky? HERE
PhillyKev 0 #29 June 20, 2002 I'd pitch in for that. But I'm thinking we should make our own little dz.com mini city inside of tent city!!!cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin

gravitysurf808 0 #31 June 20, 2002 Sorry to revisit the original subject. It's been a couple years since camping in the rain back in Quincy but if I recall 'the gatherings' used to occur around the beer trailer...usually somewhere after midnight.Wear your DZ.COM t-shirts!!!!!"...and then they took away my Swingline stapler" ~ Office Space
thrillseek 0 #32 June 20, 2002 If you want a mini city, let's set it up! Near the couch freaks, for example? just a thought.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #33 June 20, 2002 Last year, the couch freaks were set up right out in the middle of the inactive runway; RV and all. It was a good place. Looking at the way the WFFC is to be laid out this year, though, the camping and RV's are all fairly far away from dropzone row. THAT is the main reason I recommended renting one of the big tents right up in the action. It's use would be more as a "hangout" and staging area than anything else. thrillseek 0 #34 June 20, 2002 Well, let's do it! who can support this?I may be spending a lot of time around DaKine Rags' Tent helping out, etc...Just ask for A.T.!
rhino 0 #35 June 20, 2002 I think meeting everyone on here would be pretty damned cool myself... So where is it going to be?? Where do we gather? Blue Skies .....
PhillyKev 0 #36 June 20, 2002 What we need is someone who is getting there early...like Thursday or Friday to set up a tent and mark it somehow with a flag or something. Then they need to be diligent and ask people camping close by if they are dz.com members. If not, politely ask them if they wouldn't mind moving a bit away to leave room for those of us arriving a little later. Personally, I won't be there until Saturday. But if someone could do this we'd have a decent chance of all being in relative proximity.cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin
jceman 1 #37 June 20, 2002 Quotelike Thursday or Friday to set up a tent and mark it somehow with a flag or something. That's fine for those camping -- does nothing for those of us in RVs. I think Chuck's idea of springing for a tent is the way to go.If we get one of the tents on drop zone row, those who are tenting will be able to put their stuff up behind the tent, and all will have a shaded place to pack and stash their stuff during the day. If the tent is still available, I will pitch in for it.Chuck, can you check with the convention and see if it is available yet, or do you want someone else to do it? Yes, I will volunteer to help if Chuck is too busy.

SkymonkeyONE 4 #39 June 20, 2002 I am pretty tied up at the moment, but still have the letter from Bernice saved on my computer at home somewhere. I will try and dig it up. My dad and the rest of the Alabama Gang will be there early, but have their own very-active scene going on, so I don't need to get him involved. That being said, someone else should take point since I am going to be tied up with work matters early on. ChuckAre you a Monkey or a Flunky? PhillyKev 0 #40 June 20, 2002 They have 2 areas on the map, one is called "tent camping", and the other is "tent city". "Tent city" is behind dz row. But can you camp there or is that for group tents like what we're talking about? I'm confused because the registration asks if you're staying in a hotel or "tent city".Also, does anyone know if we'll be allowed to use coleman stoves, etc?cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin
jceman 1 #41 June 20, 2002 Quotesomeone else should take point since I am going to be tied up with work matters early on. OK, folk. Just got off the phone with Judy at WFFC -- there will be a tent on Drop Zone Row with a banner "DROPZONE.COM The Virtual Dropzone". I am sponsoring the tent through my store, if any one wants to contribute to half of the $495 cost this would be fine, but I will not beg or make repeated appeals. I really want to have this place for us so am happy to pick it up.We will be arriving in Rantoul on the 1st, so will be there to help anyone who needs to get settled in. wildblue 7 #42 June 20, 2002 sweet! You going to setup a Paypal account for donations? Or just setup a fish bowl in the tent?Warning: sunshine is a kleptomaniac
SkymonkeyONE 4 #43 June 20, 2002 Bravo. Outstanding initiative. I am sure you can recoup all you want or need by setting up a paypal account for it. If 25 people pitch in $20, then the thing will be payed for. If you are going to write the entire expense off anyway at the end of the year, then yeah, having people split the other $250 will be very simple. Even if I can't make it for long, I will pitch in $25 right now and hope that nine other participants will follow suit. PM me with your address.ChuckAre you a Monkey or a Flunky?
